Staff Spotlight
Dawna Jackson- Special Education- Ocean Crest Mrs. Jackson works in the Special Education department. She is married to a cranberry grower and has 3 children, 2 daughters-in-law and 4 grandchildren. She loves to see student's bright eyes when they realize they have learned something new. Mrs. Jackson said the weirdest job she has ever had was counting bugs for Oregon State University. Her favorite movie quote is, "If you have never made a mistake, you have never done anything." Her favorite hobbies are reading and baking. | Becky Armistead- Principal, HLMS This is Becky's first year as the principal at Harbor Lights, but many of you probably know her from her 6 years as the principal of Ocean Crest. She loves working with kids on developing the skills that will help them to be successful adults. She thinks middle school is such an important time in the lives of our students, as they are developing their independence, determining who they want to be, and building habits that will serve them in the future. If she has done her job well, her students will know that she loves them, that she believes in them, and they will believe in themselves, too! Her hobbies include singing, traveling, and hanging out with her college aged daughter, Shelby. You might find it interesting to know that Becky was a competitive swimmer in her youth, and the only reason she stopped was because of a shoulder injury that prevented her from taking a college swimming scholarship. | Sheena Siewell- Secretary Sheena is married with two kids. She grew up in Bandon and graduated from Bandon High School! She enjoys working for BSD watching the students grow and mature into young adults. Some of her hobbies include hiking, playing basketball, crafts, yard work, biking, and watching her kids play sports. Something that might surprise you about Sheena is she has a twin brother named Marcus. Her favorite quote is from the movie, Pretty Woman, "Big Mistake. Big. Huge. I Have To Go Shopping Now." If she could learn to do anything it would be to fly! |
