Englewood eLearning Newsletter
Welcome to eLearning- Message from the Principal
Paul Whitaker
Dear Englewood eLearning Students and Families,
It is my honor and privilege to welcome you all to Englewood eLearning! This incredibly unique opportunity is something we are very excited to share with you, and we look forward to forging this new path in public education together with all members of our community.
Before I introduce myself, I want to first recognize the reality of our circumstance. We have been given an opportunity to become a center of learning taking part in something incredible. We have the chance to blend near limitless creativity and transformational possibilities within the boundaries of pedagogy and instructional technology. "Never let a good crisis go to waste" is a quote that echoes in my head, and while the COVID-19 pandemic is anything but good, the fact that within this crisis exists the opportunity to reevaluate and reflect upon the current educational landscape is something we cannot ignore. It is my belief that we are at the beginning of this journey, and it fills me with a sense of optimism and gratitude that I get the chance to pave this path alongside you all. Thank you for joining us on this journey.
My own educational journey started with teaching fifth grade in Aurora Public Schools. I have since spent a number of years teaching first, third, fourth, and fifth grades in districts here in the Denver metro area. I also spent a few semesters teaching college biology I and II labs. More recently, I was an elementary Assistant Principal for five years. I joined Englewood as the Instructional Technology Coordinator last year. This year, I am honored to serve the Englewood community as both the Instructional Technology Coordinator and the Englewood eLearning Principal! I look forward to leveraging my skills in leadership, instructional technology, and pedagogy in ways that are innovative, supportive, culturally responsive, and adaptive to meet the needs of all of our students.
We have much to discuss, discover, and process in the days and weeks ahead. This is, for many of us, an entirely new approach to teaching and learning. We have the chance to align grace and patience with innovation, rigor, and relevance. This opportunity will present with new and exciting challenges, but we are not navigating this alone. Our strength in Englewood Schools exists in our ability to connect with one another and celebrate what makes us great. Though we come from different schools across our district, we share in our common desire to embrace and experience this journey together.
I look forward to building a new tradition of excellence with each of you.
Thank you, and welcome to Englewood eLearning!
Sincerely,
Paul Whitaker

Dear eLearning Families,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! This is a year like no other and I’m so excited to embark on this journey with you. I am thrilled to be part of the administrative team for the eLearning School. This year offers many unique opportunities for us to forge a new path in creating an entirely online school in Englewood. The traditional things we know - in-person Back to School Nights, the buzz and excitement of entering the school building at the beginning of the year, eating lunch in the cafeteria - may not happen in the way they always have, but we will create new traditions, new ways of “doing school” and new ways to connect online.
In addition to my role as Instructional Dean, I am first and foremost a wife and a mom to two beautiful girls. My 4 year old, Addison, will be attending ECE at Maddox online in Englewood this year and my 18 month old is building her vocabulary and walking around causing all sorts of trouble. Both girls have the privilege of staying home with my husband, Ryan, and me as we navigate having full-time jobs, being full-time parents all at home.
Over the course of my 15 years in education, I have served as a classroom teacher (K-5) and Instructional Coach, most recently right here in Englewood at Clayton Elementary. I have fallen in love with the close-knit community in Englewood and I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with students, families, and teachers from all of the Englewood schools through this online platform. I bring a wealth of instructional knowledge with me to eLearning and will play an integral role in the learning for all students with a focus on Kindergarten through Sixth grade. I look forward to working collaboratively with teachers to ensure your students’ learning and growth remain front and center. Our online platform not only provides many opportunities for collaboration within the school itself, but also with families and community members. The sky's the limit! I firmly believe all students can excel and that the partnership between home and school builds confidence in students to use their powers to shape their future and the future of our community.
Sincerely,
Becky Jones
