Child Obesity
It says, I say and So
It says
"The committee also reported the "distressing" and "most alarming" number of 55 per cent of First Nations children living on reserves, and 41 per cent off reserves, are overweight or obese."
I say
This is a huge problem. Many First Nations families live in poverty, and don't have enough money to buy nutritional and healthy foods. Because of this, many families have to survive on Lunchables, Kraft Dinner, and other processed but cheap foods that don't provide close to enough nutrients.
Lunchables
Lunchables attention grabbing packages often attract the eyes of young kids. However. they are very high in fat and sodium, and are processed.
Kraft Dinner
Kraft Dinner is basically just made of chemicals, and there are high levels of sodium and fat in it.
Chicken Nuggets
Chicken nuggets are another highly processed food, and sometimes the meat isn't just chicken. There are high levels of fat and sodium in chicken nuggets.
And so
Something has to be done about this. This trend cannot go on. The government has to do something to provide First Nations students with healthier meals, and get them to exercise more. They need to raise awareness about this issue, because it is a serious one.
