Excellence In All We Do 1/22/20
Next Week
I can't believe it's the last week of January! This week we will be back on normal schedule; Monday and Thursday will be A Days, Tuesday and Friday will be B Days, and Wednesday will be C Day.
Monday, January 25th is also the last day of the first 3 weeks! Make sure to check your student's progress...we are working hard with students to develop strategies to keep up and not fall so far behind in their classes. If you need help getting into Ascender(our Gradebook software), please let us know and we will help you get set up.
Also, Picture Retake Day is Tuesday, January 26. If you are a remote learner, feel free to come by the front of the school between 8:00 - 9:30. Our face to face students will take their retakes after 9:30. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the doughnuts!
We wanted to thank the new Smiling Donuts on Lohman for bringing us doughnuts this morning! After a long night in Ingram, doughnuts were just what the doctor ordered!
Fundraiser
This year has been tough on everyone, and the last thing I wanted to do was a fundraiser because 1) It's right after the holidays 2) We've been pulled and stretched in every direction and 3) Personally, I try to avoid fundraisers as much as possible.
However, without the many activities we do throughout the year, fundraising is something that would help tremendously to better fund student/teacher activities. So when I talked to the School Funding Group, I felt like it was a great compromise. All we are asking for is a minimum of a $20 dollar donation, and for that donation, you will receive numerous discounts off brand name items like Amazon, Home Depot, Nike and Oakley. These discounts can far outweigh the cost of your donation. The proceeds of this fundraiser will help fund :
- Culinary Arts
- Teacher Training
- Teacher Supplies
- Student Incentives
- Technology for the classroom
- UIL and OAP Supplies
- School Improvement

We appreciate any support you can help us with!

C Day
C Days have evolved into a great resource for us, and we have developed some very effective strategies to help our students. RSVP's for Wednesday are no longer required, because we check in the students when they get here. If your student is struggling in a class, or needs extra help, we would love to help them on C Days.

8 Blue:
Our 8th grade girls brought home the win against Ingram last night with a final score of 17-6! They were very excited that they had put up the most points on the board than they have all season! Progress! I’m going to start calling this team the Fab 5! They continue to hustle, work hard and win with only 5 on the team and I am so proud of them and their efforts, moreso that no one fouls out! We have found our rhythm and I hope that it continues into our last 2 weeks of the season. Lead scorers were Ava Ferguson and Bella Adams with 6 points each. Ava has also proven to be our most improved player, leading in steals and rebounds as well. Also contributing to the team were Claire Brumfield, Lily Medina and Josceline Topete.

Help Keep Us Finish Basketball Season!
We knew basketball was going to be a challenge, but we do want to finish the season strong. As a reminder, for us to continue to play sports, we all have to do our part. I wanted to share the UIL guidelines as it pertains to spectators:
Masks!!
- Spectators, audiences, fans and media are required to wear face coverings as described in Executive Order GA-29.
- Groups should maintain at least six feet of distance from other groups at all times, including the process of admission and seating. A group is defined as no more than 10 people including the members of the household and those persons who traveled together to the facility.
UIL is very serious about these guidelines, and if we want to continue to play sports this year, we must take these to heart. Photos from different schools not following this guidance have already been circulating, which puts all of our programs at risk.
Please make sure to wear a mask at all times and respect social distancing.
