From the Principal
Dear Graham Families:
Next week, on Tuesday, is Teacher Appreciation Day. Please help me to celebrate and honor our teachers next week. A card or note of appreciation to your child's teacher is a great way to brighten their day. Graham truly has the best teachers- I feel very lucky to be part of such a wonderful group of educators.
Our 5th graders and our 3rd graders have completed their M-Step testing this week. Our 4th graders will begin their MSTEP testing next week. NWEA testing will begin for all grades the week of May 3rd and conclude on May 21st. Your child's teacher will provide specific testing dates.
Avondale Middle School Principal, Jason Ohrt, will be visiting Graham on Monday to speak with the 5th graders regarding their transition to 6th grade. We look forward to his visit!

2021/2022 School Calendar
Student-Centered District Calendar for 2021/2022
Student-Centered District School Calendar 2021-22
After months of work and collaboration with stakeholders around the Avondale School District, we have developed our calendar for the 2021-2022 school year.
While adhering to government mandates and myriad other details, the calendar reflects our commitment to student and staff growth. It contains opportunities for student remediation and enrichment through staff-provided intersessions that we feel will help reverse the academic losses that may have occurred for some students over the past year. The new calendar also honors our commitment to our staff members to provide opportunities for them to advance their teaching skills and enhance their content knowledge in the ever-changing world of education.
The new calendar is considered student-centered but we feel that it really is learning community-centered as it is designed to create an environment conducive to a healthy and intentional educational experience for all.
If you are interested in participating in a committee to discuss and plan intersession and enrichment opportunities for our students please fill out the form at this link: Intersession Planning Committee Interest Form.
The new calendar is attached to this email so that you can begin to plan your coming months. Barring any surprise mandates from the state or the occurrence of national or global events that may interrupt our 2021-2022 school year, there should be little to no changes to it.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

Attention 5th Grade Parents
- Sports Physicals: For the 2021-22 school year, an MHSAA pre-participation sports physical is required for all students who participate in sports. A physical examination must be completed on or after April 15, 2021 to be considered a valid physical for 2021-22. The MHSAA Health Questionnaire will not be in use for next school year. The MHSAA two-page physical form has not changed and remains on MHSAA.com. MHSAA physical cards can be ordered by schools as needed.
