A Note from the FAB President
It is hard to believe that we have reached the end of another school year. It went by fast and, as always, the arts were top notch at CHS. Between our concerts, dramatic productions, art shows and individual student achievements, the many talents of our student body and their exceptional educators did not disappoint. We brought back Art in the Burg, provided funding to our fine arts departments, and awarded scholarships to graduating seniors and summer camp participants. In short, it started to feel a little more like a normal year.
Still, the pandemic impacted us like many not-for-profit and volunteer-dependent organizations. Our membership growth slowed, and we struggled to find people willing to volunteer their time to engage in events and our Board. If you've been reading my messages this year, you know we were very close to winding down the Fine Arts Boosters after decades of advancing the arts in our school and community. I am happy to announce that at our May meeting, a small group of parents stepped up to carry the organization forward into the future.
Please join me in welcoming the incoming FAB Board Executive Committee for the 2022-2023 school year:
- Co-Presidents: Carol Storck and Danielle Wilde
- Vice President: Megan Hanusa
- Treasurer: Todd O'Connor
- Secretary: Erika Reitz
I will stay on the Board as Immediate Past President for the next year as well.
Additionally, I want to recognize the following individuals who have stepped up to fill other important Board vacancies:
- Art in the Burg Co-Chairs: Megan Hanusa and Karen Miorin
- Vocal Music Liaison: Mike Stevens
- Tech Theater Liaison: Erika Reitz
We still have several open positions to fill before the next school year. If you are willing to serve in any of these roles or would like to learn more about one of them, please reach out to me or any Board member over the summer.
- Art Liaison
- Band Liaison
- Drama Liaison
- Grants and Scholarships Chair
- Website/Newsletter Chair
I also must express my most sincere gratitude to the outgoing Board members who have stuck with me through the pandemic, many of them after their students had already graduated, to keep FAB alive and ready for a new leadership team:
- Sarah Going, Vice President
- Jennifer Carlson, Drama Liaison and Art in the Burg Co-Chair
- Stacey Mose, Art in the Burg Co-Chair
- Michelle Keith, Grants and Scholarships Chair
- Perrie Garland, Website/Newsletter Chair
- Lizz Carr, Tech Theater Liaison
- Laura Fish, Vocal Music Liaison
- Patty Himes, Band Liaison
Last, but in no way least, I want to recognize and honor Jan Batty, who has served on our Board for many years. Jan wrangles all aspects of our program production, including soliciting advertisers, page layout, chasing down senior bios, last minute edits, and our new favorite -- QR codes! Jan has been the glue that helped to hold us together, not to mention the resident historian. THANK YOU, JAN, for your unwavering commitment to the Fine Arts Boosters, Cedarburg High School, our educators, and our students! We are excited that you will be continuing your service to this organization in the coming year (and hopefully many more after that).
As I write my last note after five years as President of the Fine Arts Boosters, I can truly say that it has been a joy. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this Board, and more importantly, an amazing group of parents, teachers, and community members who are incredibly committed to keeping the arts vibrant in our schools. I leave you all in the amazing hands of our new leadership. I am confident that the years ahead will be full of great things.
Yours in the Arts,
Caryn Esten, Outgoing President

ART IN THE BURG: 2022 Recap
9th Annual Art in the Burg - March 5, 2022 - What a Comeback!
The Art is back in the Burg! We thank you for making Art in the Burg 2022 a comeback success. 1,000 shoppers + 70 artists + 15 student performers + 110 volunteers = $10,000 raised!
A big thanks to everyone who organized, volunteered, attended and shopped at AIB. The day requires a monumental effort from dozens of FAB members and volunteers. Together, we painted a wonderful picture of our CHS fine arts programs, and of Cedarburg -- to both the public and to the participating artists.
Want to get in on the fun for 2023? Reach out if you can lend a hand and some time to this cause. Join us. We will support the arts for our students and continue to make a positive artistic impact on our community. Plus, it’s fun!

DRAMA UPDATE: Spring 2022
CHS Drama has had a very full 2022 so far!
Winter Musical, All Shook Up!
In February 2022, CHS Drama presented the Musical - All Shook Up! This show involves a large cast of over 30 students, plus many other students involved in stage crew, run crew and pit orchestra. The talent displayed by all of the students was simply amazing. This show was so much fun - we hope you had the opportunity to enjoy it! (See photos below.)
Spring One Act Play, Tracks
In May 2022, CHS students performed, led and directed the One Act Play, Tracks. The acting talent of CHS Drama students shined on stage during this show. Congrats to all the cast, crew and our student director, Cassidy Fish. (See photos below.)
Bravo to Our Seniors!
CHS Drama congratulates all our seniors on their graduation! We hope to see you back - as CHS alumnus - in the audience of our future shows!
What’s to come in the 2022-2023 school year? Drumroll please....
CHS Drama is excited to announce the fall play and winter musical for the 2022-2023 school year!
- Fall Play: You Can't Take It With You
- Winter Musical 2023: Mamma Mia
The Drama Department will be conducting seasonal auditions again in September 2022. This means that auditions for both shows will be held in early September. So make sure to pay attention to the announcements upon the return to school in the fall so that no one misses the audition dates for either or both shows.
Summer Dance Workshop
In late summer, the CHS Drama Department will be holding a Dance workshop to help students prepare for the auditions in early September. Watch for updates on dates and locations in your students’ Canvas announcements.

FAB HAD A GREAT YEAR -- LET'S KEEP IT GOING!
After a quiet year due to the pandemic, FAB has bounced back and ended this school year strong! This year was filled with art shows, plays and a musical, concerts and FABulous Art in the Burg!
We have a lot of great news to share moving forward. FAB is in an excellent financial position and is ready to support the arts programs at CHS. It also has a new executive board; many board members are "retiring" after a number of years of service.
Looking toward fall, FAB’s biggest need is volunteers! We challenge you all over the summer months to think about how you can give some of your time to support FAB and the arts. We have a number of supporting positions open; roles such as: coordinating grants and scholarships, preparing the newsletter and maintaining the website. Also, we need representatives to act as liaisons to the CHS drama, band and art departments. As the saying goes -- many hands make light work. We hope you consider contributing your time to FAB in the next school year.
If you are interested in learning more about opportunities to become involved in FAB, please contact Outgoing FAB President Caryn Esten.
Have a wonderful, fun and safe summer.
Our FABulous Mission: Who we are...join us!
