News From Second Grade

Week at a Glance

The students' enthusiasm for learning about wells has been awesome. I just love seeing the joy in learning coming from each of them. Today during our morning meeting, students began problem solving how we can use the materials. All of a sudden a circle of 22 students took hold of the discussion, sharing ideas, listening, and providing feedback to each other. I wasn't calling on anyone, asking people to raise hands, or reminding them wait their turn to share. I was just an observer. It was truly amazing. This type of collaboration just warmed my heart. I shared that with the class and told them how they made me get a little "misty" with happy tears. Then of course many students shared how they had made a family member have happy tears! It was truly one of our best moments of the year!

Veteran's Day-Our school will be recognizing Veteran's Day by inviting family and/or friends to join our SLC. More information will be coming home later next week, but if you have anyone in your family who we could honor during this time, please let me know.

Green Screen-The students are writing personal narratives and I've been thinking of ways students can publish their work. I was interested in learning how to use a green screen to make a "movie". I could use a lot of support with this. If anyone is interested in learning how to do this or already knows how to do this and would like to volunteer to teach our students I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for all the supplies that came in this week. The students have really enjoyed using them. As always we are in need of cardboard and tape.

Volunteer Times- Please remember we have open volunteer times in our class on Tuesdays from 1:00-2:00 and Thursdays from 1:30-2:15

No School on October 21st.
