Interested in an internship in the not-for-profit sector?
If you find it, we'll fund it!
Most jobs in the sector are open to graduates from any degree discipline; it’s your work experience that makes the difference. A not-for-profit internship can be the key to your success in organisations from the United Nations to independent charities.
If you’re looking to gain work experience but are put off by the fact that many internships are unpaid, we’re here to help!
The Careers Centre can support you in funding your unpaid ethical internship in the environmental and humanitarian sectors.
Previous internship award-holders have worked in a range of roles, including supporting refugees in Nairobi, investigating the pollination of trees, promoting the rights of children, and undertaking field work on the habitats of the spectacled languor.
Why not check our website or come along to our launch event to hear from students who have completed an internship that we have funded?
Join us on Thursday 5th April from 12:15 – 13:00 in School 3.

If you intend to work while studying in the UK, an employer will require you to provide them with a National Insurance Number (NINo), so that they can pay your wages and make any applicable tax or national insurance deductions. UK residents are allocated a number automatically at the age of 16. However, European or International students will not have this number so will need to apply for one.
To apply for a National Insurance number, call the application line:
