In Chapter 12, students will learn about geometric shapes and equal parts. We will explore two and three dimensional shapes along with dividing shapes into halves, thirds and fourths. For a challenge, use the MAP practice links below to help your child review math concepts.

Students are encouraged to continue to study addition, subtraction and multiplication facts. We will not have fact quizzes in May.

Extra Practice:

Language Arts

Students will study how authors use problem and solution as a text structure to communicate information. Students will identify problems and solutions within a text and use a T-chart for note-taking.

Students will share their Mother's Day writing at home soon if they haven't already. Students will write Father's Day writings to share this summer. Portfolios will also come home later this month for students to share.

In Word Study, we continue to study high frequency words and spelling patterns.

Extra Practice:

In Science, students will learn about animal life cycles and habitats. They will use a variety of resources to do animal research at school. They will make a pamphlet to showcase the facts they learned about their animal. Small groups will also create an animal song using a familiar tune and then writing new lyrics that include the animal group characteristics.
