Truman Primary Counselor Corner

March 2022

We blinked and March is here! I love this time of year and I'm thankful for all of the sunshine we've been getting! Please keep reading to hear about all of the exciting things going on with the Truman Primary Counseling Program.

The Great Kindness Challenge

We had a wonderful week learning more about sharing kindness with others! Students learned about being includers, showing gratitude, giving compliments, and being considerate! We made a big kindness tree that hangs right in the front of our school! If you have any pictures or a cool story from our Kindness Week that you'd like to share, please send them to me at

Career Day!

In March, we will spend some time talking about and exploring all different kinds of jobs and careers! On March 10, we will be doing a special "Career Dress-Up Day" where students may come to school dressed as what they want to be when they grow up!

Career March Madness Bracket

We will be filling this in over the next couple of weeks by having students vote! Students will also be doing career exploration with Mrs. Collings in the library!

Maternity Leave

Dear families,

I am so excited to be welcoming a baby in early April! For my maternity leave, Sharon Heatly will be taking my place for the rest of the 21-22 school year. Sharon has worked in counseling with Norman Public Schools for 30 years and recently retired as the Director of Counseling and Student Advocacy for Norman Public Schools. She will finish out my remaining small groups, do classroom lessons, and offer student support as needed! We are so fortunate to have her and I know students will love learning from her! I will miss your children while I'm out, but I know they will be in great hands. If you have any questions about this transition, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at or Kristie Eselin at
