Parent Update

September 16, 2021

Dear Parents,

We have been in school for an entire month. Thank you to everyone who is adhering to our Covid regulations and helping to keep all of our students safe and healthy. The students have settled into a nice routine and it almost feels like a normal school year.

We have noon dismissal on Friday, September 24 for all students. No lunch will be served. Students attending Day Care need to bring a sack lunch.

If your child is absent, please call or email to let us know the reason. We need to know what the symptoms are if they are sick. Thank you for your help with this.

Siblings are not permitted to sit outside unsupervised to watch another sibling's sport practice or game. They must go to the Bruins Club Day Care. Coaches are not responsible for them.

We discourage parents from dropping off fast food lunches for children. It disrupts the classroom and leaves an "aroma" in the office. In the future, you may leave the lunch outside on a table for your child to retrieve. Remind them in the morning to come pick it up. We will not call the classroom to remind students about a lunch.

Remember to wash your hands and wear your masks. Vaccinations are recommended and protect everyone.

God Bless,

Mrs. Ferguson

6th Grade Lunch Fundraiser a Success

Thank you to our 6th grade parents for putting on a fantastic fundraising lunch. This is the first of many. Thank you to parents for ordering and paying online, thus saving us from piles of paperwork and collecting money.

Each grade is allowed to hold a fundraising lunch to assist with field trips, etc. Thank you to everyone who purchased lunch and helped our 6th grade class.

Fliers are attached to the Family Letter advertising the fundraising lunch to give parents the opportunity to decide if the lunch items fit a family's needs. Participation in the fundraising lunch is not mandatory. Please pack your student a lunch if your family decides not to participate. Our hot lunch program will not be served on days we have fundraisers.

Save the Date! Annual Halloween Drive Thru is Coming!!

Friday, Oct. 29th, 6-9pm

241 South Valley Center Avenue

Glendora, CA

Once again, St. Dorothy Parish will be hosting a safe Halloween celebration. All boys and ghouls will be welcome.

If your family or group would like to host a station, please contact the office. We will also be taking donation of candy/treats. Donate $30 worth of candy/treats to earn an hour for required volunteer hours. Include receipt for verification.

Pick Up Procedures

We hope you have noticed a difference in our dismissal pick up. There are now two lanes to help ease traffic. When entering from the northern entrance on Valley Center you will see cones marking two separate lanes. Someone will be in the parking lot helping to direct you. Do not arrive before 2:45 to avoid creating a line of cars in the street.

This is a great volunteer hour opportunity! We will need at least two parents from 2:30-3:15 to help direct traffic. You will receive the full hour, and will be able to wear a stylish, yellow vest. Please contact Mrs. Jasso in the office if you would like to help and be a founding member of our Parent Safety Brigade.

All parents can help by printing out the dashboard placard, writing your student(s)' last name and grade(s) and placing it on the passenger side dashboard. This will help staff call out for students quickly.

Allergy Aware School

As an 'allergy aware' school our aim is to inform our community about the risk of allergies, with a focus on food allergies and also to provide a supportive environment in which children at risk of anaphylaxis can feel safe.

We would ask that all families refrain from sending any tree nut or ground nut products to school. Some of our students are highly sensitive to both.

There are many types of allergies that we are aware of in our student population. To maintain a safe environment, we are also asking that any treats sent in for special events must be store bought and all ingredients must be clearly labeled.

We want to thank you for your consideration in the health and well being of our Bruins.
