PSAT INFORMATION
Millard South will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT Test on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.
The PSAT is a standardized exam which measures reading, writing and language skills and math problem-solving skills. For juniors the PSAT also serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (/NMSQT). The scholarship competition is co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). For more information please visit http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/psat/about.html.
Many students take the PSAT in order to: * Qualify for scholarships. Junior year scores are used to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Competition. * Enter the Student Search Service to receive information from colleges. Your scores will not be shared. * Receive detailed feedback on skills necessary for college study. * Experience the formatting of the other college entrance exam that is accepted by all colleges in the United States. * Take a shortened, simplified, less expensive version of the SAT available to 9-11 graders.
The PSAT is open to all students grades 9-11. It is particularly recommended for the following students: * Juniors who previously scored in the 90 percentile on the PSAT exam. * Sophomores and Juniors with a 3.75 or higher grade point average. * Any 9-11 grader enrolled in Honors English, Honors Math or AP courses. * Students who appreciate more time per question.
