While only 15 students are allowed to compete at each of our virtual meets this year, our full team at this meet consisted of the previously mentioned students along with Caleb Gregory, Karissa Baker, and Lilly Rife.
The team will be competing in the NE Kansas Science Olympiad Regionals on Saturday, February 20th! Wish them luck!
Scholars Bowl - Coach Garrison
The Eudora Scholars Bowl team travelled to Wamego on February 4. The team advanced to Finals competition, besting Baldwin to earn a 3rd place finish. Unfortunately, only the 1st and 2nd place squads advance to State competition. EHS Scholars Bowl ends their season with an overall Varsity record of 54 - 26.
On the night Seniors Matthew Karten finished with 170 points, Grace Schieferecke earned 140 points and Alex Vonderbrink had 70 points. Junior Sara Schieferecke earned 20 points and Sophomore Emiri White also earned 20 points.
Varsity Girls Basketball - Coach Parker
The Cardinals on Friday night faced off against their rival Baldwin at home. This highly competitive game went back and forth until the 4th quarter when the Cardinals took control in the 53-44 win. The defense led the way by forcing 24 Baldwin turnovers. Juniors Harper Schreiner and Mackenzie Mayer had 6 and 4 steals to lead the team. Offensively, the team had their most balanced night in scoring. Harper had 22 followed by senior Jayla Pierce (10), senior Melia Martin (8) and Mayer (8).
Monday was another home game as the Ottawa Cyclones came to town. The Cardinals controlled the game from the tip. Defensively, the team was sharp and didn’t allow the Cyclones to get good looks. The Cards held them to 23% field goal percentage and forced 17 turnovers. Senior Kate Erpelding and H. Schreiner controlled Ottawa’s ball handlers which made it difficult for the Cyclones to get any offense going. H. Schreiner led the way in scoring with 28 points. Sophomore Sawyer Schreiner grabbed 6 rebounds to lead the team. Overall, this was a great team effort especially on the defensive end.
The basketball team would like to thank the band, cheer and dance for their work the past two games. We have appreciated the atmosphere coming back into the games!!!
JV Girls Basketball - Coach Schreiner
The junior varsity girls basketball team lost to Baldwin Thursday night 24-44. Offensively the girls couldn’t get shots to fall. Harleigh Moore (12th) led all scoring with 6 followed by Eliza Fewins (10th) with 5. Despite their 4-8 record, these girls keep fighting and keep improving.
In action Monday night, the girls junior varsity team lost a close one to Ottawa 34-42. The two teams were very evenly matched throughout the game, but their press frazzled us and we struggled to get good shots. We had a balanced scoring effort with Abby Watson (11) with 8, and then Rylee Calhoon (11) and Ashley Kuntz (11) with 7 apiece. Liz Mueting (10) was once again a vertically challenged rebounding machine who led us in rebounds with 7.
9th Grade Girls Basketball - Coach Stueve
On Monday night the 9th grade girls battled hard against Ottawa. Down by 4 at half time the freshman started the 3rd quarter with energy and went back and forth with Ottawa. The girls ultimately couldn’t hold on to the lead and fell to Ottawa by 8 points. Parker Long (9) and Kenzie Yoder (9) both led the team in scoring with 10 points each. Final 38-46.
Varsity Boys Basketball - Coach Deterding
Congratulations to Justin Fawcett and Camby Fox for being selected as the Winter Royalty King and Queen.
JV Boys Basketball - Coach Watkins
9th grade Boys Basketball- Coach Steffen
Last Friday, the 9th grade boys basketball team took on the Baldwin Bulldogs. The Cardinals battled through some injuries to some key players and got the game to within 3 points, but would eventually lose with a final score of 41-50. Eudora was led in scoring by Adrion Seals with 16 points. The loss brings the team's record to 6-4 on the season. They take on Ottawa at home on Tuesday, February 9th and travel to Paola on Friday, February 12th.
Varsity Wrestling - Coach Andrews
Kyleigh Musick-2nd Place
Phoebe Fletcher- 3rd Place
Harper Andrews- 3rd Place
On Saturday, the Cards travelled to Santa Fe Trail for their first of three State qualifiers. Junior Russell Smith went 1-2 for the day. Smith finally decided it was time to start hitting his blast double which would land him in 5th place defeating an opponent we had two prior losses to. Freshman Corben Edgar came out on Saturday with some really strong hair and bulled his way to a 6th place finish in a nasty 120 pound bracket. Junior Mac Douglas decided it was time to wrestle but fell just short against #1 seeded Guge from Ottawa where Douglas gave everything Guge wanted but just couldn't get the win. Pinning Henre of Miege and Rocha of Bishop Ward would cinch the bronze for Douglas. Junior Joe Faircloth wrestled tough in the stacked 132 pound bracket. Losing only to Sutton of Ottawa, Faircloth would pin his way out the backside also to claim the bronze. Senior Cael Lynch received Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament after punching his way to the finals where he defeated one of 4A's toughest wrestlers. Collin Creach of Ottawa was ranked #1 in the state up until Lynch defeated him earlier in the year and then again on Saturday. Lynch would also achieve his 100th career win! Good stuff Lynch, good stuff... Senior Holden Andrews would just do "Holden" things all day (manhandle, dominate, embarrass, ooh and awe, destroy, what was that, ouch) and just a bunch of other "Holden" things all the way to the finals where he once again defeated Baldwin's Josh Broyles. Senior Will Schreiner, the underdog, would lay down beatings all day and not stop. He ran to the finals and kept running, and ran right over the top of #1 seeded Mason Shore of Santa Fe Trail. Junior Dayton Fraser would frustrate his opponents match after match (along with his coaches) but always seemed to find a way out on top. Fraser punched his ticket to the finals against Sink of Ottawa and would put on a clinic of nasty chicken wings during his finals match against Connor Murray of Baldwin. Fraser would win the 4th straight finals match for the Cards. Senior Dakota Whitaker lost his semi finals match to the 170 pound tournament champion but would go on out the back to defeat Louisburg and Harvey of Baldwin. This would be the first time in Whitaker's career of beating Harvey. Nice job... Senior Nate Criqui would lose a heartbreaker in his first match to Fanco of Miege. Criqui would wrestle out the back finishing in a nasty battle for 4th place to Sink of Ottawa. Senior A-A-ron Hicks found a way to his first ever finals appearance. Hicks can be a bit funky when he wants to be. Knowing this, we gave him the "green light" to do whatever he wanted. Hicks started the match strong by throwing Cleavenger of Ottawa straight to his back. Fortune was on Ottawa's side as they landed out of bounds. Hicks would go on to take a much earned silver. Senior Devon Moncrief was on the right road as well and walked to the finals where he would run into Youngren of Louisburg. Moncrief would go on to happily take the silver as well. Sophomore Branden Gregory wrestled as hard as he possibly could have in a very tough and formidable 285 pound weight class. Gregory is a 195 pound wrestler wrestling in the 285 pound weight class with little experience so the coaches have nothing but respect for this kid. Keep up the hard work.
Regional Wrestling is Friday at Jeff West. We are looking at getting all 10 wrestlers through to Sub-State next weekend which in the past would have been the State Tournament. This could possibly be the most wrestlers Eudora has taken to this level in twenty plus years. These guys have worked through adversity, anguish and pain to get here. I truly feel this team is going to be hard to stop once they get rolling and I feel like they are finally on a roll. Best of luck to you on Friday fellas. Something to think about on your journey over the next week or so- "The man at the top of the mountain didn't fall there..."

Cardinals Care Fund
The Eudora Schools Foundation (ESF) and the Eudora Schools are pleased to announce our Cardinals Care Fund. Take a look at this announcement video: https://youtu.be/8e2hqUDJp_I
The ESF's Cardinals Care Fund was created to meet the urgent, immediate, and basic necessities of Eudora students, to ensure that the student's physical, social and emotional needs do not stand in the way of their success in school. This program helps fill needs unmet by any other source. If you or you know of someone that has a need, please reach out to your student's school.
ESF administers financial assistance for emergency needs such as food, clothing, medical, transportation, utility, and housing. Of course, some requests are unique and fall into no specific category. Please note, this is an emergency fund and money is limited.

EHS has joined the NFHS (National Federation of High Schools) Network and installed new video technology at Eudora District Stadium and in the EHS Gym that will offer you the opportunity to subscribe so that you can watch all of our events at home. By subscribing you also have access to games at any school EHS plays that have the NFNS system; DeSoto and Piper are examples, as well as thousands of other schools across the country that are part of the NFHS. In these times of limited attendance, we strive to be able to offer all we can to our fans and students to be able to watch our events whether at home or on the road. Please go to NFHSnetwork.com and search for Eudora High School to see upcoming events your Cardinals are competing in. Thank you to all parents and spectators for your support and understanding during this year of unprecedented changes.
