Principal Corner
Please mark students' coats/hats/gloves with names in case they are lost. If your child accidentally brings something home that is not theirs, please return it. We know students can pick things up by mistake.
We had a great turnout for Jersey Mike's last week! There were so many people that they ran out of bread. Thank you for the support!
Counseling Update
Counseling Lesson Theme: Being an Upstander
Bullying is when someone repeatedly and on purpose says or does mean or hurtful things to another person who has a hard time defending him/herself. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.
There is usually an imbalance of power, meaning the person doing the bullying may be bigger, stronger, have more friends, or have authority over the person he/she is targeting.
Help your child be an Up-Stander!
Encourage your child to include as many kids as possible-invite those who may be alone
Practice with your child what they would say if they saw someone being bullied. Prepare them to say “Stop, that’s not okay, that’s not funny”
Teach them kindness, forgiveness, and tolerance- kids who bully deserve a chance to make changes
Set a good example by speaking up against intolerance in your own life and refusing to participate in gossip- send the message that any kind of bullying is not okay

Robotics Club for 4th Graders
This robotics opportunity is for students in fourth grade for the next six weeks. It will then switch over to another grade level. Please do not sign up if your child can't attend every session. This is a continuous learning curriculum and if they miss a day, they miss a lot. We will meet from 3:15-4:15. February 8th, 15th, March 1st, 8th, 15th, and 29th. Your child will need to be picked up promptly outside the blue hallway door (4th and 5th-grade hallway). They will come to robotics from class at the walker bell.
There is limited space because of materials, so please sign up as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Stubbs at rhickman1@sdale.org.
Please complete this form if interested.
