Good Kids
Yesterday we had our school photographers taking group and candid photos for the yearbook. I walked into the old gym to see how it was going, and I could tell they had been shooting pictures for a while.
After a few minutes I approached one of the photographers to ask if our students were behaving. But before I said a word, the lady said, "Your kids are soooo good. They are well-mannered and behaved." I responded that I was just about to ask about the students' behavior. She went on to say, "Oh, they have been great. Yesterday we were at a school and the kids were so bad, we couldn't even finish. We just packed up our stuff and left."
I equate this to watching our own children grow. Parents who are with their children every day may be less likely to notice a change in height or weight, than someone who only sees the kids occasionally. All of us here at SLS are with our students every day. And we really do know how good our students are. As a matter of fact, it is a routine discussion. But it's always nice to get a reminder from someone who visits other schools daily.

Host family and support team needed!
Everyone's Child International is partnering with the Haiti Ministry of St. Anthony and St. Louis to bring life-changing medical care to a young man from Haiti. It takes a village to help a youth so far from home, so we're reaching out to folks who may be interested in lending a hand.
All are welcome to join Everyone’s Child International for an informational meeting to learn about David Laguerre, a 19 year old young man from Haiti, who will be coming to the US to receive life-changing medical care at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. David will be coming to the area in early April and will be here for 3-4 months. He will be treated by the Colorectal Center with a possible reconstructive surgery. Everyone’s Child International is looking for a host family as well as volunteers to help with transportation to appointments, respite care,
clothing, and other support.
Anyone interested in helping or hosting please come to an informational meeting on Monday, Feb 4th from 6:30-7pm in the lower hall at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris.
If you are unable to make the meeting but would like more information, please email Lisa Tuveson at lisa20@me.com or Jenny Geers at jengeers@nalu.net. Thank you!

SLS vs BMS 7/8 girls basketball
Monday night was the cross town shoot out for the 7/8th grade St. Louis Lady Cardinals and the Batesville Middle School Bulldogs. We each pulled away a win in the end.
The 7th grade Lady Cardinals shut down the Dogs with a final score of 30-2. Scoring for SLS were Catherine Streator with 17pts, Izzabelle Wonnell with 7pts, and Claire Saner with 6pts. We were able to out rebound the dogs and score most shots from the paint. It was a great showing for the 7th grade Lady Cards making them 6-0 now on the season.
The 8th grade team may not have pulled the win off, but did have a VERY exciting moment during the game. Anna Wanstrath scored her record high of 2pts for her SLS career. The place exploded for her! The final score for The Lady Cards was 16-44. Scoring for SLS were Claire Saner with 6pts, Megan Bauer with 4pts, and Anna Wanstrath, Izza Wonnell, and Sadie Wachsmann all getting us 2pts each. Way to play hard ladies.
St. Louis Lady Cards vs EC
Last Thursday the St. Louis 7/8th Lady Cardinals hosted the East Central Lady Trojans. We took 1 win away from the night but 2 amazing games.
The 7th grade Lady Cards finished the night with a score of 42-10. Scoring for St. Louis were Catherine Streator with 20pts, Claire Saner 9pts, Lea Cossentino with 4pts, Rhea Miller with 3pts, and Izza Wonnell, Lilly Schebler, and Kate Weber all scoring 2pts each. Sadie Wachsmann and Madison Wanstrath were a very important part of our defense pulling down rebounds and assisting teammates in scoring. Ava Owens did a great job defensively, stealing the ball from the other team. These ladies are now 5-0 on the season.
The 8th grade game was such a good game to watch. Although we lost by 1 it was a great game. The final score was 30-31. Scoring for SLS were Megan Bauer with 14pts, Kate Weber with 6pts, and both scoring 4pts each were Rhea Miller and Catherine Streator. Rebounding on both ends were Clarie Saner and Catherine Streato, and Kate Weber assisted by stealing the ball all night long for the Cards. Nice job ladies.
