Principal's Note

Dear Section Families,

I am pleased to welcome you back to the 2020-21 school year! I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the new families joining Section this year, and welcome back all of our returning families as well. I am honored to be your principal.

I hope that your summer has been filled with fun family activities while enjoying the wonderful sunshine. How quickly summer concludes and our thoughts turn to preparing for the start of school. This is always one of my favorite times of the year! I love the excitement of beginning a new school year. It is truly thrilling to be part of a team comprised of teachers, staff, parents and students who together work to achieve great things.

Although this year looks different than any other year, we are dedicated to providing your child(ren) a memorable, interactive, and engaging learning experience.

To my fellow HAWKS, Welcome Back...Let's Make it a GREAT Year!

Morning Transportation Update

We are working to make adjustments to allow a for an expected increase in vehicle traffic. We may adjust our procedures as we learn more. These changes are made using our best judgement based on past practices. Please review the car drop-off traffic flow map below. The most significant change is the addition of 2 lanes of car traffic utilizing a zipper merge as vehicles approach the car drop-off zone. Staff will be directing traffic through this new pattern, please follow their directions to help the process run smoothly. Thank you for your support and understanding - student safety is ALWAY our #1 priority!
Big picture

Bussing Updates

Drivers are instructed to pick up students at assigned stops only. This prevents students from dangerously walking or running along town and subdivision roads to another location.Thank you for following your assigned scheduled bus stop.

Students will be assigned a seat on the bus. Seats will be marked on the first day of school as students board the bus. For your reference, bus seating charts are posted in a window at Section under the vestibule. Students will be expected to wear a mask as they board each day and wear the mask for the duration of the route until further notice.

Students will not be allowed to ride a bus other than their

regularly assigned bus until further notice. Please plan accordingly.

End of Day Staggered Release

In an effort to reduce traffic and hallway congestion at the end of the day, Section will use a staggered end of the day release.

3:30 - Car Riders Released (Parents meet your student(s) under the vestibule) (2:30 Wednesdays)

3:35 - Bus Riders Released (2:35 Wednesdays)

Pick Up and Drop Off Updates

As you know COVID-19 has changed the way the school office will function this year. Here is a reminder for how the pick up/drop off of students and/or their items will be handled.

Pick-up/drop-off of student items

(i.e. water bottles, forgotten homework, winter weather gear, etc...)

When entering the vestibule there will be a table located outside the office door where you will leave the items in a bag labeled with your students name and class code. Once you exit the building a member of the office will retrieve the bag and take it to your student.

Student Pick-up/drop-off

(bringing in late, picking up early, returning from an appointment)

When dropping-off/picking-up your student at school, you will enter the vestibule and sign your student in or out as needed. The sign in/out sheet will be on a table in the vestibule located outside the office door. Only your student will enter into the office and then head to their classroom.

Exceptions to the above procedures apply when the parent/guardian needs to touch base with the health room or deliver medications. In those instances, the parent/guardian can sign in their student and enter the office with their student to connect with our health room regarding restrictions and/or medications, etc...

Online Fee and Lunch Payments

New this year, you can pay your Lunch fees and Registration fees both through your Infinite Campus Portal. The credit card fee will be waived until Friday, September 11th at 3:30 p.m. This is the easiest way to make your payments however, we also accept payment in the school office. Remember if you are paying by check it should be made out to MASD. If you are sending payments with your child it must be in a sealed envelope addressed to the school office and clearly marked with what is inside.

Picture Day is Coming - September 15th

Call In Your Absences and Tardies

The Section School Attendance Line offers 24 hour voice mail messaging. Please call the main office numbers 262-363-6260 and listen for the prompts. All absences and tardies should be called in by 8:30 a.m. on the day of the absence or tardy. When calling in, please state clearly your child's name, grade, homeroom teacher, reason for absence and if you want to leave a homework request. If it is a late arrival, please leave your lunch choice if taking hot lunch and an approximate arrival time if known. It is important that you call in your child by 8:30 a.m. as the number of lunches needs to be called into the central kitchen by 9:00 a.m. for delivery to our school and we will start making calls to parents for absences not called in. We appreciate your help with this process.
