Roadrunner News

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Our first trimester of learning will end on November 20, 2020. Due to the change in our school year and learning models, our conference week will look different than in past years. Normally, teachers meet with each students' parents/guardian to discuss academic, work habits, and behavior progress during the first trimester of learning. However, this year, teachers will be conducting a limited number of conferences on Monday, December 7th, via Zoom meetings. Students who are meeting or exceeding standards may not necessitate a conference at this time. December 7, 2020 will be a non-student day and students will not attend school on this day.

In order to maintain the routines and learning in the AM/PM and VLA model, we will not be providing minimum days during conference week as we have done in the past. Since there is only one day designated for progress report conferences, teachers will only be able to meet with a limited number of students. For those students not receiving a conference, teachers will include comments on the progress report. All students’ progress reports will be available on December 8 via ParentVUE in Synergy. Directions for accessing the progress report via Synergy will be forthcoming.

Thank you for your support and understanding.

Westwood Elementary Foundation

The Foundation needs you to volunteer. We need several board positions to be filled to continue to operate.

We are currently looking for a Secretary, Director of Special Events, Director of the Dining for Dollars program, Director of Community and Donor outreach, Director of Social Media/ Electronic Outreach and more volunteers to help plan and coordinate special events, Dining for Dollars and many other activities.

We’ve operated for years with a very small group of volunteers who have done a lot of amazing things. Currently, though, we don’t even have enough Board Members to operate per our legal charter.

We need the above board positions and four additional volunteer positions to be filled before the end of December.

If you are interested in keeping the Foundation operating then email wwefpresident@gmail.com

PTA Membership

The year may look different but Westwood still needs you! Join the PTA so we can all work together to make this year the best possible.

Westwood Elementary Adopt-A-Family Kicks Off Monday, Nov. 16th

Let the GIVING begin! Monday, Nov. 16th, we officially kick off our annual Adopt A Family program. In order to accommodate the changing times we are in, we have set up online gift purchasing for you to help our families in need. Please use the Amazon link for the online gift lists and when you purchase through the link you are helping Westwood Elementary as well!

Three ways you can choose from to help:

1. Shop online through the Amazon link

2. Pick a gift tag from our Giving Line that will be out in front of the school

3. Pick up a gift card (any denomination for grocery, gas, Target, Walmart, Amazon) when you

are out shopping and drop it off in front of the school to our Adopt A Family volunteers.

It's that easy! We thank you for your kindness and giving hearts in helping our Roadrunner families in need.
