How is Thanksgiving Celebrated? In both Canada and America, family and friends gather for a feast on Thanksgiving. Traditional fare in America often includes turkey, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. Parades and football games also have long associations with the holiday. | When is Thanksgiving? In the United States, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, as specified in a joint resolution passed by Congress in 1941 and a proclamation issued by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1942. | Did You Know? Colonists in New England and Canada regularly observed “thanksgivings,” days of prayer for such blessings as safe journeys, military victories, or abundant harvests. Americans model their holiday on a 1621 harvest feast shared between English colonists and the Wampanoag. Canadians trace their earliest thanksgiving to 1578, when a Martin Frobisher-led expedition celebrated safe passage. |

JUDSON ISD DOES FREE COVID TESTING
Judson ISD is thrilled that we have been granted the opportunity to partner with Community Labs to help us get back to school classrooms and buildings safely. Community Labs is a local nonprofit organization that is creating a safe pathway for schools to reopen safely, allowing for in-person learning, for people to return to work, and communities to thrive. This innovative, nonprofit laboratory is changing how traditional COVID-19 testing is currently conducted. The Community Labs screening process uses a PCR test—the FDA gold standard in COVID-19 testing. The actual test is painless and uses a less-invasive method that is 95% effective in detecting asymptomatic silent spreaders of the virus and has a 24-hour turnaround.
Weekly testing for staff and students is completely voluntary. This opportunity is available to both in-person and virtual students. Questions? Contact your campus directly.
The parent information system contains several features such as Online Registration, Attendance, Grades, Schedules, State Testing Data, and much more.
