Monday Morning Motivation
Central Elementary News-April 23--April 27
Simple Things
Dear Staff,
These next few weeks are some of the most STRESSFUL weeks of the school year. I encourage you to try and do ONE of these simple things every day!
- Go for a walk and breathe the fresh air
- Watch a funny (mindless) movie or a Gerry Brooks video :)
- Get together with a good friend and laugh your heart out
- Get your REST
- Limit homework for your students and yourself!
- Take time to EAT LUNCH
- Take time to do a favorite self-care activity – manicure, enjoy a hobby, take long bath, etc.
- Take it ONE DAY at a time (don’t worry about tomorrow)
- Enjoy talking with your students
- Remember your WHY (Why you do this work)
Have a great week!
Julie

Announcements and Reminders
- Midterm was April 20th—Make sure your grades are up-to-date.
- Subs--This time of year, it is important to request a sub as soon as you know you will not be at school. Thank you!
- Radios are here and will be passed out to to team leaders for grades K, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Before Thursday’s meeting talk about a central location for the radio. Communicate with the grade level next to you in the hallway to spread out. These are about 500.00 a piece so we need to handle them with care.
- Announcements will begin right at 8:50 by an adult. Students will not read announcements during ISTEP.
- ISTEP Part Two--April 16-May 4--As always, Teachers in grades 3, 4, and 5 please limit homework. Also, rather than send the whole schedule to parents, I am relying on you to share your specific testing dates and times with them through your communications. Thank you!
- If you need furniture for your classroom, please send detailed information to me or place in my mailbox. You have to do your homework using catalogs and provide detailed information.
- Retention-- Please let me know the names of students who you think make good candidates for retention. In addition to your data, I would like you to use Light's Retention Scale, which I will send to you upon request. We can talk about this at Data Team as well.
Please remember to do a radio check if you have recess duty.
- This helps the office know you are outside for recess.
- Also, this verifies that the radio is working.
If you stay indoors, please have one of you on recess duty call the office to let our secretaries know where you are located.
- Opening Minds-- Plan to finish the book for our May meeting.
- Domains 1,3, and 4-- Please send a calendar invite for the week of May 14-23rd (sooner if you have your end of the year data). You will self-evaluate using the rubric handout which I gave you at the faculty meeting. Bring this to our meeting.
ISTEP+ test continues
end of the year calendars--Trying to capture all that is happening!
Staff Celebrations!
- Thank you to all the teachers who willingly volunteer to present at faculty meetings, work with PTO on projects and attend conferences. A huge thank you to Annie, Katy, Courtney and Amy for presenting at our last faculty meeting. It is not easy presenting in front of your peers. We appreciate the extra time and effort.
Our attendance rate for this week is the highest since the week ending March 3! Thanks to Linda for all the data and thanks to Jacki for all the parent conversations.
