Flaa's Monday Memo

Great Things I Noticed Last Week!
- Productive tutoring sessions with our re-testers! Keep encouraging them and showing them what is possible.
- UIL Academic teams practicing, practicing, practicing! Thank you coaches for taking the time to work with these students on their chosen events.
EXCELLENT ARTICLE BELOW ABOUT YOUR UNMOTIVATED STUDENTS!
Are we passing the buck?
It's time to check our own practices and work on the things we can control.
Nuts & Bolts
- Shut-Down List - Please make sure everything in your room is unplugged. Department Heads will be responsible for making sure all rooms are cleared for the break. Please help them out by making sure your room is done.
- We will only tutor EOC re-testers for the next two weeks. The list has been updated and students have been notified. Please get with department heads or your AE partner to know if you are tutoring or watching other students.
- T-TESS Observations - Observations will begin after the Thanksgiving break. If you have a specific date in mind please communicate that with your appraiser.
- Discretionary Leave
- A maximum of 5 percent of campus employees will be permitted to take discretionary personal leave at the same time.
- Discretionary leave may not be taken on the following key days: the day before a school holiday, the day after a school holiday, days scheduled for end-of-semester or end-of-year exams, days scheduled for STAAR test, professional or staff development days, any other days which an absence would disrupt the educational process.
- Leave exceeding 10% in a pay period will not be approved, except with special approval for extenuating circumstances as determined by the Superintendent.
- Please make sure you are at your duty station on time. Monitor bathrooms for vandalism and please talk to students about picking up trash during breakfast and lunch.
