Upcoming February PD Day
The February 16th PD will run from 1-3 p.m. and will be facilitated by Direct Cole. This day will be concentrating on creating ELA rubrics for all grades. The rubrics that you create need to be based on the current MCAS rubrics; which are not written in student friendly language. Teachers: please bring your computer, current report card, and all rubrics that you use in class.
New Standards-Based Report Cards
Please note: We need your voices! If there is no representation from staff, Marie and I will be making all changes. They will have to be used as is with no changes after the fact!. Have a say in your report cards!
Staff Luncheon
New Salem Grant
We have received 2,000 from the NSA grant to shop till we drop. Tracy and Christina would like to get feedback from you all and our students to help us decide which books to purchase for the library. Here's how it's "going down":
Was Completed by Christmas break-
* Staff and students will add books to their wish lists.
Was Due Before January 31st-
* We invite each classroom teacher (including Bridget and Missy) to fill purchase orders with a total of $225.00 in book titles and submit to Christina
(please let Christina know if you are not interested in participating and she will reallocate
your money to all)
We ask that you check on the Scholastic book sites for titles first, since then we would receive bonus points for additional books. Search hardcover books and many pages are available.
You can choose fiction or non-fiction as we are in need of both.
By February 5th-
*Christina will submit all purchase orders to the office for ordering
When all books are received we'll plan a whole school assembly to unveil the books and celebrate this wonderful gift!!
Please see Tracy or Christina with any questions.
PCS Citizen of the Month Program
Just a reminder . . .
The Pillars of Character Education
Petersham Center School is going to emphasize the Pillars of Character Education: Compassion, Fairness, Integrity, Perseverance, Responsibility, Respect, and Self-Discipline for our Citizen of the Month Program going forward. Below is a brief description of each remaining pillar for this school year.
At each Student Assembly, a student will be announced from each class who was an exemplary model of the pillar of the month, given a certificate signed by the Principal, their picture will be hung in the cafeteria, and a PCS Citizen of the Month cinch bag.

April: RESPECT
