Hello Lakeside Families!
I hope you have enjoyed your week and are doing well! As we draw closer to the start of our school year, I want to continue to update you with important information.
As a reminder, the first day of school for the 2020-2021 school year is Thursday, August 6. Elementary school hours are 8:05am - 3:05pm. Our front office is available to help with any registration questions or needs for either virtual or in-person learning. Please call our office at 317-532-2850 for any needed assistance or to set up an appointment to register your child for the upcoming school year.
The Warren Community Family Resource Center, in cooperation with MLT Mentoring & Sonny Day, will be hosting a food distribution with fresh produce and meat from Gleaners. The distribution will take place on Monday, July 27th beginning at 3:30 pm and ending no later than 5:30 pm at the new Moorhead Community Resource Center, located at 8400 East 10th Street Indianapolis, Indiana. Supplies are limited, so distribution will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. We would like to thank all of our families for allowing us to serve you over the summer months during these difficult times.
In addition, food distribution will continue on Tuesday, July 28, and Friday, July 31 at our designated locations from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
We would appreciate your help in notifying us if your child will be a car rider for the upcoming school year, as we anticipate a greater number of car riders this year. If your student(s) will be a car rider this school year please email our secretary Mrs. Hamilton at dhamilto@warren.k12.in.us with your child's first and last name and if applicable the name of the daycare in order to have your car rider tags ready on the 1st day of school. This will help make our car rider process much faster and efficient.
As always, I thank you for your continued support of Lakeside Elementary! Take care and have a great weekend!

A Message from Dr. Hanson
July 22, 2020
Good Afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,
This is Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township.
Last week, our school board approved our 2020-2021 S.A.F.E. Reopening Plan which included a modified start date of Thursday, August 6th. Our full reopening plan can be found on our district website. We will continue to monitor the local COVID-19 data and consult with the Marion County Public Health Department and make adjustments as needed to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
With the deadline for families to select VIRTUAL being July 20th, our teams are now working diligently to schedule courses, create bus routes, and develop class rosters for all of our IN-PERSON and VIRTUAL students. Families can expect to receive information on these things next week and the first week of August.
Families with students in grades 9-12 who selected the VIRTUAL option will receive a phone call from their school counselor to assist with scheduling their classes for the upcoming school year. Please allow a few days for counselors to reach out to all of their students.
Our food outreach will no longer be operating on Wednesday evenings. Our food outreach will continue on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:00 - 1:00.
Warren's Sonny Day Community Center will have a distribution this Thursday, July 23 from 6 - 7:30 pm at Highlander Park. Via a drive through distribution, the Eastside Rotary Club will be volunteering and giving out food & toiletry items, school supplies and school clothes.
I appreciate the patience and understanding that our families and staff have displayed during this ever changing situation. We will continue to be deliberate and mindful of creating plans that provide the best experience for our students and staff.

SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/NEWS MEDIA USE
The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
