Dragon Tales
December 9, 2019
Are you counting down?
You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
I bet you will have that tune in your head all day!
This is just a gentle reminder that not everyone celebrates Christmas and some celebrate it in a different way. Please be sensitive to everyone as we observe this time of year in many ways. Please use this opportunity to talk with your students about different cultural traditions and especially about not upsetting students who really are waiting on Santa Claus! :)
Our front display case has needed to be changed for about a month now. Please let me know if your committee has any plans so we can make the front of our school look its best! Ideas: a quick and simple display featuring books about the holidays, a window about reading strategies, a window featuring Science Fair, a grade level can feature some of its best writing, No Place for Hate, etc. The ideas are endless, we just need to get it updated. To make it easy, you can leave the purple background paper (It still looks nice).
I am sure many of you are wondering what happened to our Christmas get-together!?! Well, with all of the after school meetings and trainings, we couldn't nail down a date. So... what about a New Year's get together? We can plan it for the middle to the end of January (pacing ourselves) and we can find a place to hang out together for some fun. If you have any ideas, let your team leaders know so we can try to arrange something most people want.
As requested, each team will choose the time for their winter party. remember to let Jessica know so we can make a list for inquiring parents :)
Yes, this is a very busy week, but things will settle down a little next week. Hang in there and remember to find joy in all things around you!

Things to know...
- Pride committee make sure we are ready to go for our next round of awards :)
- Homework Lab: We are disappointed with or homework lab participation. Please encourage students to come do their homework or to come work on assignments that are past due! remember that you can send a folder with late or missing work for a student. Knowing that the end of the grading period is quickly approaching, SEND STUDENTS :)
- PLEASE share all dress up days with students so they can participate too!!
- Keep posting those fish so we can honor the great things we see around us and have a teacher of the week!
- Stay on the lookout for the Cyber Safety Training coming our way!
- If you are keeping your standards too low and not letting students engage in productive struggles you are not growing them as much as you should be. Find ways to create opportunities for students to collaborate and struggle together.
- Our Tuesday activity, Spirit of Kindness, will take a lot of construction paper. We will cut the strips for you! Please share a lesson that puts them in the mood to think about kindness so they can think of something positive to write. Use glue or tape to link the strips together. Please hang them before the end of the day. (When you are attaching them to the wall with your other grade level classes, please use painters tape and not packing tape which will take the paint off of the wall!)
None this week. Fill out those fish!
Remember to use your fabulous parking spot up front!!
