The Norcross Elementary Eagle
May 2021
It is hard to believe there are approximately 20 more days of school left. Our Eagles have done an amazing job of being resilient and eager learners over the past year during a pandemic. As we close out the 2020-2021 school year, we have created safe ways for our Eagles to enjoy the end of the school year. Field Day, End of the Year Classroom Parties, and Student Recognitions are being planned. However, due to safety, families cannot join us on campus. Thank you for understanding. Our teachers will communicate upcoming events with you.
Speaking of teachers, our teachers have done an AMAZING job for our Eagles. Let's honor and celebrate them during National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 3-7) with notes and other gestures of appreciation.
Kindergarten Registration is happening now. If you know of families with children who need to register, please ask them to visit our website (link is below) for additional information.
During the summer, please check our website for the student supply list for the 2021-2022 school year and for Meet Your Teacher Day (MYTD) information.
Families, thank you for your continued support.
Have a great summer!
Sincerely
Kassia Sutton

Families of Digital Learners - Action Required
As we approach the end of the 2020-21 school year, we want to communicate our plan for device return to our school and device checkout for summer learning. All devices checked out to students must be checked back in to the local school at the end of the 2020-21 school year so that tech teams can begin preparing the devices for summer learning activities and the coming school year. If your student has a school-owned Chromebook, laptop, hot spot, or other device, please plan to return the device on the designated date and time listed below.
When returning your device, please bring all components, including chargers and mice; have the device fully charged and powered on in order to expedite the return process.
Devices will be assessed for damage upon return and fines may be assigned based on the damage in order to cover the cost of replacement parts and repairs. Fines can be paid by credit or debit card, cash, or check at the time of the return. If a device is returned in good condition, no fine will be assigned. Device services will be turned off and fines for replacing the device will be assigned if a device is not returned.
If a student needs a device for summer learning, the school will work with you to provide a device.

Ride the wave of learning this summer!
This summer’s K-8 learning experience—GCPS’ Summer Enrichment + Acceleration (SEA) program—has been redesigned with the goal of helping all students, while addressing learning losses that occurred during the pandemic. The focus on enrichment and acceleration is intended to help students get a head start on next year’s learning. There is no charge to families to participate.
The four key SEA opportunities are:
- In-Person SEA Program—In-person program available by invitation for ES and MS students who teachers feel would benefit most. (June 14-July 2)
- Rising K Academy—In-person program for children registered for kindergarten in the fall at a GCPS school. (June 14-July 2)
- Digital SEA Program—Self-paced digital format accessed through the Student Portal. (June 14-July 16)
Learn more about SEA in this GCPS Talks SEA Q&A session from GCPS TV. If you have questions or comments about the K-8 Summer Enrichment + Acceleration program, you can send those to sea@gcpsk12.org.
