Village Library Lowdown
What is the Village Library Lowdown?
I've created this flyer as a means to get some of the many resources I want to share with teachers into one concise place rather than sending a million emails! Feel free to explore these awesome resources at your convenience and let me know if you need any help!
New Online Resource: TeachingBooks.net
This is a new subscription we recently started and that I use ALL the time in the library. It's available for you too, and great for looking up just about any book and author to find more information, all in one spot. It's great for introducing a book or author, as well as finding out the reading level breakdown (See the Text Complexity Results). On each page for a book or author you can find endless resources such as audio clips, videos, and links to other websites relating to that book or author. Login info is just username Chadwick password Chadwick - OR if you want to log in as a teacher so that you can make and save your own resource lists for classes, simply login in with your Chadwick email address (no password). Below is a link to a sample page from TeachingBooks as well as an overview video.

New Online Resource: PebbleGo.com
This is an online resource/research database for K-3, but can sometimes work for 4th and 5th too! We currently have a subscription to 4 of the databases: Animals, Science, Biographies, and Social Studies (and a trial with Dinosaurs until January 15th so check that out and let me know if you would like us to add it.) This resource is great for those students just beginning to learn and understand what it means to research. PebbleGo is extremely interactive and comes with the option to have all text read aloud as well as short video clips, a pop-up glossary for those tricky or new words, activities, and an easy way to find citation information. Our order is still being processed, so until January 15 log in using username- discover password- capstone - I will keep you posted on when that changes! To get there, simply go to the website and log in!
This online resource is the next step in research for those students in grades 3-6. So far, this resource just offers information on the United States and Native Americans, but is great to use for research in these areas. Explore by typing in the search box or selecting a U.S. region or culture area. The read along audio and highlighting is still available, but the information for each subject is naturally more extensive than our K-3 PebbleGo. Check it out! Login information is the same at PebbleGo - we are using the temporary discover username and capstone password. Just type in the website or click above to be taken there, and then log in to begin exploring.
