Pirate Update!
Pirate Families,
This week I am relaying an important message from our school nurse, Mrs. Browning:
All medication for student use during the school day must be provided to the school clinic by the parent/guardian, authorized by the parent/guardian, and have the appropriate pharmacy label. Students who self-carry per Florida law must have authorization by the medical provider, parent, and be approved by the school nurse (RN). No student should carry medication that has not been authorized. Contact Ms. Milton, clinic assistant, 352-524-8405, or Mrs. Browning, RN, School Nurse, 352-524-8415, regarding any questions about medication administration or health services.
Thank you for your support as we work together to ensure that our children have every opportunity to become college, career, and life ready! I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!
Sincerely,
Ms. Gilbert

Flu Vaccine Clinic and Health Screenings
Flu Vaccine Clinic - FLU season will begin soon. Flu vaccines will be given to students in collaboration with Health Heroes of Florida on Tuesday, October 4. Students who will get the FLU vaccine must have signed parent authorization. Your student will bring home a one-page form for you to fill out and return. ONLY students with parent authorization will receive a FLU vaccine on Tuesday, October 4. Return the form to school immediately. All forms should be received no later than September 19, 2022.
Health Screening - Health screening for 6th grade students is scheduled for Tuesday, September 20, at PMS. We would like to invite your student to participate in this important screening. However, parents must consent via the myStudent portal for students to participate. The following screening will be available: vision, hearing, height/weight/BMI, and scoliosis. Parents must consent to each screening individually prior to the date of the screening. Although health screening is mandated by the state, students without consent will not be screened at school this year.

Parent Access with the PBIS Rewards Parent App
Imagine being able to extend positive behavior reinforcement beyond school grounds! With the PBIS Rewards Parent App, you can do just that. As part of the PBIS Rewards suite of apps, the free Parent App allows parents to view student point totals, the number of referrals (aka consequences), items purchased with points, and upcoming events for which points can be used. Through the app, you can communicate directly with your child's teachers and they can communicate with you too!

2022 - 2023 PE Waiver
Florida state legislation requires students in grades 6-8 to take at least one semester of physical education - PE each year. The legislation allows parents to waive the requirement if the student meets at least one of the following:
- The student is enrolled or required to enroll in a remedial course (waiver not required).
- The parent requests that the student enrolls in another elective course offered by the school at that grade level.
- The student is participating in equivalent physical activities outside of the school day.
***A student may still be assigned to PE unless there are documented health conditions & the waiver is completed.
Free and Reduced Meal Application
Currently, all 2022-2023 students will receive free breakfast and lunch regardless of eligibility. However, we strongly encourage you to complete the new free and reduced meal application, as schools receive a portion of their funding based on the percentage of students who qualify.
To review the eligibility guidelines and complete an application, please visit www.pascoschoolmeals.com.
