After School-visiting local businesses

We have been reminding our students that they represent James Hart School, even after school hours, after receiving reports of disruptive behavior at Culver's last week. Our school values the relationships we have with local businesses. Students need to be respectful and not disruptive when visiting, Culver's, Walgreens, or any other local business.

SHIELD Testing

SHIELD is a saliva test that Homewood School District 153 will be utilizing to screen for COVID-19 in our school community. The goal is to catch people who are asymptomatic but positive before they unknowingly spread COVID-19 to others. . Testing will begin at James Hart on Tuesday, August 31st, and weekly testing will take place on Tuesdays.

Unless an opt-out form is turned in to the school nurse, all students and staff will be tested regardless of their vaccination status. All students, regardless of vaccination status, involved in band, choir, and all other extra-curricular activities must participate in SHIELD testing in order to be involved in those activities.

School Lunch

This year, school lunches are free for all students through the US Department of Agriculture. Student lunch orders for the day are placed each morning through Advisory.

Since lunches are free for the school year, please do not put money on your child's account for lunch. All students are welcome to a school lunch each day and will just need to place an order during Advisory.

School Computers

Students need their school laptops daily. Students will use their devices to access instruction and submit assignments.

School laptops must be fully charged each day. There will be limited opportunities to charge devices during the school day.

Students are responsible for the care of their laptops and should use the carrying case provided by the district. Laptops should be restarted each day to make sure they are updated.

Masks and Water Bottles

Please make sure your child has an extra mask with them every day.

Due to safety protocols, water fountains are not available but we have water bottle filling stations throughout the building. Students should bring a water bottle to school with them each day.

Principal's Advisory Group

We are looking for some parents/guardians to be a part of our James Hart Principal's Advisory group. The purpose of the group will be to work together to share information and address concerns to make positive changes to our school.

Bikes

Please make sure your child has a bike lock if they ride their bike to school.
