Welcome Back!!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday with family and friends. Now it is time to get back to work:) Homework will look a little different this quarter. Students will still read for 20 minutes each night and complete their Reader Response Journals. They will also complete a short math assignment each night. However, spelling homework will look very different. We are beginning our unit on Greek and Latin root words. The English language is made of many words with Greek and Latin roots. Understanding the meaning of these words will increase your child's vocabulary and will prepare them for middle school next year. Students will have a homework assignment for spelling each night to practice the spellings and meanings of their words. They will have 10 words to study for their spelling test on Friday.
Upcoming Learning Objectives
Math - Properties of 2-dimensional shapes, and the hierarchy of geometric shapes.

Winter is Finally Here!
The temps have finally dropped and outdoor recess is going to be a bit colder. Please make sure your child is wearing warm winter clothing to school. They might also need toboggans and gloves to keep warm outside. Put those shorts away until April:)
Culture Fair
Culture Fair is coming up fast! Our family Culture Fair night will be held in early March. Our class will be researching China. We will complete a research project related to Chinese culture, create authentic Chinese food, and also complete several Chinese Art projects. If you have any further ideas on how to incorporate Chinese customs and traditions in our classroom, please let me know:)
