Track 3: OPM2 Identifying and Appreciating the Good in Others
This week, Track 3 students will continue to enhance their understanding of the Other People Matter Mindset. Our Cheetahs are learning so much through their P2 Lessons each day, be sure to ask your students about their favorite character strength!
Track 4: Curiosity
“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
-WALT DISNEY
HSES Painting Project to Begin This Week!
This project will take 2-3 weeks, and will take place during the school day. The paint that is being used throughout the school will be low to no VOC and will not be harmful to the students or staff. The team coming in has completed numerous jobs throughout our district and has experience completing jobs of this size while a school day is going on with students.
If you are visiting our school over the next few weeks, you will notice that cones are set up in hallways. We ask that you avoid these areas and ensure that small children follow your direction in not touching the walls.
Thank you for all of your support in fundraising and as we execute our plan, we are so excited to see this project come to fruition!
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this project, please contact the front office.

Single Subject Acceleration Request Window
Students meeting qualifying criteria in grades K‐7 can take advanced academic content in mathematics or English Language Arts through Single Subject Acceleration (SSA). This ensures opportunities for appropriate levels of academic challenge. Only students who are currently enrolled and attending a WCPSS school during the open nomination and testing window are eligible to be considered for SSA.
Does My Child Qualify?
SSA allows students to show mastery of content in select elementary or middle school courses. Students who prove mastery do not have to take the course and may move on to the next level.
Parents or guardians may nominate their child to skip a grade level of content in either English Language Arts or mathematics.
Students will be assessed at their school based upon grade level. Depending on grade level and subject, this could include a multiple-choice test and/or a writing sample. Your school will have more specific information about this process once your child is nominated.
Assessment Requests, Testing Windows
You must submit an SSA assessment request form to your school during its specific calendar deadlines.
Deadlines for requesting an assessment for the 2020-21 school year are as follows:
Track 1: Feb 24-28
Tracks 2-4: Mar 23-27
