The Husky Howl
December 16-20, 2019; Semester I, 3rd Grading Period
A NOTE FROM YOUR ADMINISTRATORS
While most are ready for the break, there are some students feeling stress about the upcoming midterm exams. There are things you can do to help them with the final preparations.
- Encourage them. If they have performed well all semester long, they will perform well on the exams!
- Review with them. Let them tell you what they know and then ask clarifying questions to help them solidify their knowledge.
- Help your child write down their questions to bring to class (or tutoring session if available) to ask the teacher during the final days. Students can also send the questions via email to teachers before class so they will be prepared to interject the questions in their final lectures/activities/reviews.
It is not fun to be stressed or worried about anything. So, if your child is showing severe signs of anxiety, remind them that our counselors are here and ready to help. Ms. McGinnis, Ms. Smith, and Ms. Nguyen are very equipped to encourage, direct, and provide tips for managing stress. We appreciate these ladies so much as they work with the students in stressful times, they work to create appropriate schedules for all students, and they manage crisis situations as they arise. They are the backbone of our students' emotional health at school.

REFLECTIONS FROM LAST WEEK
All students are encouraged to choose a Fine Arts elective they will enjoy and can fully participate. These students selected the elective in which they could really excel. What wonderful sounds from a wonderful group of talented students.

EARLY RELEASE ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20
PLEASE NOTE: Students may not ride with friends on a bus if they are not registered riders for that bus.
Parent Drop Off and Pick Up
- Parents, you may not drop your child off in the bus lane after 7:35AM. Additional vehicles impede the bus traffic as well as make the area more dangerous to monitor student movement. Please use the parent drop-off lanes on the east end of the building if you want to drive your child to school.
- In the afternoons, several cars are driving past the buses in their designated bus area. Again, the bus area on the west end of the building is not designed for vehicles other than buses from 3:30-4:15PM.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Thanks, HMS Parents, for responding to the attendance notices mailed last week. Many students have already been able to recover lost time. After the holiday break, additional opportunities on Saturdays will be scheduled for attendance recovery.
See below for our last week's attendance.
