Parent Newsletter-August 26th, 2022
Dear Worthington Park Families,
Happy Friday WoPark Families! We have had an AMAZING week together at Worthington Park. Our students have done a fantastic job of transitioning to the first full week of school and we are so excited to be back together on Monday. I want to thank all of the families who were able to join our incredible PTA on Thursday for the 1st Worthington Park Family Reunion celebration on our playground. It was great seeing the students and families-old and new- come together over some pizza and Kona Ice. We look forward to celebrating with all of our families at more events this year!
Below are a few quick messages and reminders for the coming week. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to our main office or me directly. Have a great weekend and Go Sharks!

Be A SHARK
This year, as part of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), we are focusing on these key attributes that make each of our 400+ PARK SHARKS what they are. We will be sharing more about these lessons and our Fin Family Groups we are starting later this fall!
What is a Park Shark? A Park Shark is somebody who is safe, honest, an active learner in the classroom, responsible, and kind to their peers!
Dear Worthington Park Parents and Families!
One thing we are very proud of at Worthington Park is our diversity! For the purposes of this survey, we are particularly interested in the linguistic diversity of our school.
We are really excited to learn about all of the languages spoken by our students and families. We would appreciate it if you could fill out this survey even if English is the only language spoken in your home. We want to get a complete picture of all the languages spoken at Worthington Park! The last question gives you the opportunity to share about celebrations and traditions you share within your family. We look forward to learning about these too.
Please consider taking a few minutes to answer this short survey--you can click on the link below until Thursday, September 1. We look forward to sharing your answers (in graph format--no names will be mentioned) with all of you soon! https://forms.gle/jVdGyJDBbLCtSN45A

Circle of Grandparents
Circle of Grandparents (COG) is a character education program in Worthington Schools. With the support of Worthington Schools and the nonprofit Partners for Community and Character, senior volunteers use community-chosen qualities to teach students the importance of good character. Volunteers are needed!
The group would like to have a grandparent in each Worthington School elementary classroom. As a “Grandparent”, you can draw from your own life experiences and individual talents to teach concepts of character to your “adopted” class. No classroom or teaching experience is required, COG will provide support and materials to you through monthly, optional meetings.
You do not have to be an actual grandparent to participate, however, if you are a grandparent to a child in the Worthington Schools, you may request your grandchild’s class. Any “Grandparent” has the option to choose the school and grade level they wish to assist.
This is a wonderful opportunity that benefits all who are involved. Interested in learning more? Please contact Jim McElligott at jamestmcelligott53@gmail.com.
