Avon Local Schools Sept. 2023
June 2023

Superintendent's message
Welcome back!
We are having a great start to the 2023-2024 school year. Our schools are bustling with activities. It’s an exciting time of year as we all have a fresh start.
Congratulations to the students, staff and families at Avon High School. The school was once again listed among the top high schools in the area and nationally according to U.S. News and World Report. Educating the whole child begins in preschool and continues through all grades. We are grateful for our dedicated staff who continue to engage our students.
Later this week, the Ohio Department of Education will release the annual State Report Card. Preliminary data shows Avon once again performed very well. We proudly provide a high quality education to our students, while continuing to remain fiscally responsible to our community.
The mission of the Avon Local Schools is to educate the whole student in an inclusive environment that inspires personal excellence. Our vision is to create a legacy of excellence, innovation and service fostered through collaboration with the community. One of the ways we stay true to our mission and vision is through the development of our Strategic Plan for the district.
The purpose of the Avon Local Schools Strategic Plan is to move the district forward in preparing our students to be competitive academically, while remaining fiscally responsible as a district. The current plan, which was created in 2022, is a decision-making framework that is being used over the next few years (through 2025) to assist the district in achieving these goals.
We recently met as a district administrative team to audit the plan and review where we are within the goals and framework of the plan. Areas in the plan discussed include: 1.) Curriculum and Staff Development; 2.) Community Well-being; 3.) Culture and Communications; and 4.) Capital Assets and Security.

New turf field at AMS
The Avon Local Schools hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony last month for the new turf field at Avon Middle School. Student athletes, coaches, district administrators, and local and state officials were in attendance for the official unveiling.
The renovation was a joint project with the City of Avon and the Avon Local Schools. The field is going to be used for Avon Local Schools boys and girls soccer programs; boys and girls lacrosse programs; and football. When the school district is not using the field, the city will be using it for their youth programs.
