Universal Lunch & Recess Hour for Remote Learning Kindergarten through Grade 5
The district-wide lunch/recess hour from 12:00PM-1:00PM each day at all nine elementary schools is starting tomorrow, Monday, November 16, 2020. This shift will allow us to provide a coordinated and consistent lunch/recess time for all remote students
Our hope is that this universal lunch/recess hour affords all students with a greater amount of uninterrupted instruction in the classroom and supports all students and families during this challenging time.
Thank you for being outstanding educational partners in this work as we navigate these uncharted waters together.
High Needs Students to Return December 7th
On Friday Dr. Tremblay announced that we would be welcoming back all of our high needs students to in person learning on Monday December 7, 2020. This decision was made in conjunction with the FPS School Committee and Dr. Samuel Wong, Framingham Director of Public Health.
There are different cohorts of our High Needs Students:
Students are considered high needs according to the following guidelines from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education [DESE].
- Students designated High Needs on PL3 in their IEPs-Students dually identified as English Learners and Special Education students
- Students designated as McKinney-Vento/Foster Home/Group Home
- Students who have a 504 or an IEP who have visual and/or hearing impairments
- English Learners whose ELP is 1-2.5
- Students who are dually identified EL-SPED students -SLIFE students (ELSP)
Parents/guardians of our high needs students who are invited to return to in person learning will be contacted by the district. These parents/guardians will be asked to indicate if they will be sending their child to school for in person learning, or opting to stay fully remote. It is extremely important for planning purposes that parents/guardians of our high needs students notify the district if you plan to have your child return to in person learning on December 7, 2020 or to stay fully remote.
In preparing for this next phase, Friday, December 4th will be an asynchronous day of learning for all students Kindergarten through Grade 12 so that teachers can begin to set up their classroom for the return of identified students.
