Everyday is a GREAT day to be a STALLION!
Principal's Message
Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.” - Denis Waitley
While the holiday season is full of hustle and bustle, it is also the perfect time to slow down and reflect on the people around us that make life so great. Showing gratitude is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle. It acts as a lens through which we view the world and helps us concentrate on all of our blessings, both big and small.
In anticipation of Thanksgiving, I wanted to take this time to thank YOU, our McGregor family and friends. Without your support, compassion, flexibility and grace we would not be able to appropriately support your child’s academic success. Life is more enjoyable when we all work together. In addition, I want to commend our staff. Lots of sacrifices have been made in order to share precious moments with your children this year.
Please know that you make our lives and the lives of your children more bountiful everyday. We appreciate you!
Respectfully,
Principal, Rachael Novak, ED.S.

SUPERINTENDENT ANSTADT'S UPDATE REGARDING MASK GUIDELINES
Dear Families,
The Ohio Department of Health released new quarantine guidelines this week. Those guidelines allow students or staff who have had contact at school with a positive person to quarantine at school if they continue to wear a mask for 14 days. Students or staff who have exposure from outside school will need to continue to quarantine at home.
Our Washington Local Schools positive case data continues to improve. Only a very small percentage of the students who have been quarantined from school exposure have tested positive for COVID. Thousands of days of lost instruction have impacted students academically and socially. Many students have been quarantined multiple times. Beginning Wednesday, November 3, although Washington Local Schools will still highly encourage masks, students and staff will have the option to wear a mask as outlined in the Ohio Department of Health guidance. Masks will continue to be required on all district transportation until at least January 18, 2022 by Federal mandate.
Direct contacts of any student or staff member exposed to a positive COVID case at school, regardless of vaccination or masking status, may remain in the classroom if they do the following:
- Wear a mask for 14 days after their last date of exposure.
- Self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19.
- Isolate and get tested if they start to experience symptoms associated with COVID-19 (regardless of level of severity).
- Consistent with guidance for others quarantining in lower-risk environments, students and staff may discontinue these quarantine procedures after seven days — if they don’t develop symptoms and test negative between days 5-7. COVID tests must be proctored (no self-administered, over the counter tests without medical supervision). Free COVID tests are available at your school buildings upon request.
All students or staff who are exposed to a positive case outside of school will need to quarantine at home. Guidance for athletes will be posted on the district website on Monday, November 1.
As long as positive district COVID cases remain under 45 positive cases across the district, Washington Local Schools will continue to encourage, but will not require universal masking. If there is an outbreak at an individual building or positive cases exceed 45, Washington Local Schools may reinstate universal masking until cases drop below this target. As a reminder, weekly cases and quarantines are posted on our website.
Masks will continue to be required in all Washington Local Schools buildings until Wednesday, November 3.
We will continue to closely monitor data and make any necessary adjustments to protocols in order to keep our students, staff and community safe.

Holiday Assistance
The holiday season is almost upon us! For many, this is a time to celebrate with family and create lasting memories. This can also be a time of increased stress and loneliness. If you or someone you know is struggling, there are resources available within our community to help you during the holiday season and beyond!
United Way - First Call For Help "211" or 1-800-650-HELP: You can receive up to date information on agencies that offer assistance to our community members. This is a great first step, as these resources are updated and change frequently.
The Salvation Army 419-241-1138: While the time has passed to apply for Christmas gift assistance, the Salvation Army might be able to direct you to other local agencies providing similar services for the holiday season and beyond.
Candlelight Walk
The Candlelight Walk is an exciting event for our school district, and the essay contest is always a highlight! Congratulations to Madyson Tillett, McGregor’s essay contest winner! She was honored on the field during the Candlelight Walk ceremony for her wonderful essay on Integrity!
Congratulations to essay contest finalists, Bridgett Messick and Caleb Olszewski as well! Their essays were thoughtful examples of what integrity it means to be a person of integrity!
