Giesinger Block Walking
EMPLOYEE SPEECH RIGHTS DURING BOND ELECTIONS
Giesinger staff will Block Walk on October 17th. We will meet in the library after dismissal to get the "game plan" before we walk a neighborhood. The goal is to have at least 15 people participate. Of course, everyone is invited to "walk."
Everyone has an opinion about elections, and CISD employees are no different. When you are acting as a CISD employee, you can only share FACTUAL information about the bond election. As a private citizen, you can share your OPINION. Be sure you know the difference!
Below are some tips to help you comply with state law and exercise your First Amendment Rights.
In your capacity as a CISD employee, you can provide FACTUAL information about the bond by:
- block-walking;
- posting factual information on your professional social media account;
- putting factual information in the school newsletter;
- making factual information available at events at your school; and
- sharing facts when talking to or emailing your parents, staff, co-coworkers, and friends.
Just be sure that in your role as an employee, you are only providing factual information, and do not advocate “for” or “against” the bond.
As a private citizen, you can give your opinion and advocate “for” or “against” the bond by:
- block-walking;
- posting on your personal social media accounts;
- talking to or emailing from your personal account your family and friends;
- putting a campaign sign in your yard or a bumper sticker on your car;
- wearing a t-shirt or button advocating your position; and
- taking a personal day off from work or on the weekend to stand at a polling location.
When you are advocating, be sure you don’t use any CISD resources, like CISD facilities, your paid time, or CISD supplies and equipment.
Storybook Character Parade is always a great day! The staff costumes are the BEST!

Conroe ISD Bond Referendum
The November 5th Bond Referendum contains a second proposition, Proposition B, which includes the installation of artificial turf on the fields used by Oak Ridge, TW College Park, Conroe, Caney Creek and The Woodlands High School. This will allow the 15,000+ students to use the fields for their activities on a more consistent basis.
To view more information about Proposition B and learn more about the November 2019 Bond
Election, please visit www.conroeisd.net/bond or visit our Facebook page at @CISDBond2019.
Postivity Project Character Strength of the Week:
WHAT DOES INTEGRITY MEAN? You are honest and speak the truth. You present yourself genuinely and sincerely. Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody is watching. People with integrity practice what they preach and maintain a consistent pattern of behavior aligned with their values. They have the courage not to follow the crowd if it means going against their beliefs. Integrity is closely aligned with the terms of honesty and authenticity. People with integrity tell the truth and have alignment in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. A person who lacks integrity could be described as pretentious, hypocritical, or insincere. They are pretending to be something that they’re not or they’re saying one thing and then doing another. It is important to be able to change your mind (and be open-minded), as you learn and grow. However, the main distinction comes in the intention. Is the person intending to manipulate another? A second important facet is self-awareness. It’s tough to be true to yourself, if you don’t know who you are.
Happy Birthday to...

Katie Wyatt - 5th
Jenna Araki - 6th
Taylor Cohen - 14th

Please Avoid Parking at the Church of Christ on Longmire
The Church of Christ on Longmire will begin repairs on their parking lot and has asked us to please avoid parking there until the end of September. We appreciate using their parking lot for the overflow of our school events and want to accommodate to help them with their needs.
Thank you for your assistance.
"Feels Like" Temperature
We will be using Weather Underground for our daily weather check.
Please use this link and/or app. Graystone Hills has a weather station here so we will use this unless it goes down.
https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/tx/conroe/KTXCONRO198
The app looks like this. Our ZIP code is 77304 then you may have to select the weather station "Graystone Hills".
Come see me if you have trouble.
If the "feels like temp" is 95-98 degrees, you may have 15 minutes of outside recess instead of 30.
If the "feels like temp" is 99 or greater there is no outside recess.
