Principal's Newsletter

Dr. Rachel Williams, Principal
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
Last Friday was full of so much fun and excitement as our students participated in our GLO celebration. Because my newsletter goes out at lunch, I did not have time to capture and share all of the enthusiasm until this week. Again, thanks to our GLO team and parent volunteers. Also, thanks to everyone who assisted at various indoor and outdoor stations last Friday. We could not pull a day like this off without your commitment to our kids.
The half day celebration consisted of Bach to Rock, a Glo dance party, and outdoor physical activities with a dunk tank included. Make sure you ask your student what their favorite part was. Special thanks to all of the adults (staff, parents, and family members) who volunteered for the dunk tank. It sure was a hit and we have video to prove it. Please enjoy several photos below!
On Monday and Tuesday we will have our annual Thanksgiving Luncheons. I will be serving those of you who attend Monday with Grades 4, 5, and 1. Mrs. Richardson will serve grades K, 2, and 3 on Tuesday in my absence. Unfortunately, I have a meeting off campus that day. Our Thanksgiving lunch is always a spectacular event, but please pack your patience. We are cooking for our students as well as all additional guests and the food is very fresh. You may encounter a line, but we hope the time you have with us at school and your child is worth the wait.
I hope you have a great weekend. Please consider supporting Milton High School tonight in the first round of the playoffs. I am unable to attend as I am heading home to the Florida State/Clemson game this weekend. Go Tigers!
Silver Spoon Awards
This week we are excited to acknowledge our first Silver Spoon Award Winners! By meeting expectations in the cafeteria, classes can earn points during their lunch periods. The class at each grade level that has the most points at the end of the week wins the coveted Silver Spoon Trophy for the day and can choose a class reward. This week’s winners were Chalpan, Sanders, Walker, Kassel, Zupancic, & Cheeseboro. Some chose fluffy friend day as their prize while others chose to enjoy a picnic lunch! There are many prizes from which the classes can choose. Ask your student about the Silver Spoon Award and encourage them to keep up the great work!

Veteran's Day Breakfast and Milton Literary Festival - November 11, 2017
The City of Milton proudly announces two tandem community events on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017: A veteran’s breakfast followed by the Third Annual Milton Literary Festival.
Free continental breakfast will be served at 8 am. Following breakfast, over 40 best-selling authors are scheduled to appear in various panels, with audience participation.
Of particular family interest is the outdoor book trail at Milton Library. This mulch laden trail, built by members and volunteers from the Milton Literary Group, is located behind the Milton Library. While walking through the trail, kids and adults alike will enjoy reading pages out of a very popular children’s book selected for this year’s event. As information, the trail is open year-round.
