SAVE THE DATE! Lakes Eagles Booster Club (LEBC) Bid It To Win It! Online Auction will be April 12 – April 16
Bid It To Win It! online auction will feature awesome items and one-of-a-kind
experiences, which you can view and bid on from the comfort of your home with
your computer or your cell phone from April 12 – April 16.
This is a great way for our families and community to support Lakes High School
students and staff, including the Lakes High School clubs, sports and activities. We
are seeking donations from the local community. If you have a business that would
be interested in making a donation (gift card, product and/or service), please
contact Tracy Behnke at tracybehnke@hotmail.com
Lakes Eagles Booster Club (LEBC) is a parent volunteer group that raises funds in
order to enhance the academic, extracurricular and staff experiences at Lakes HS.
Because of your generous support last academic year with LEBC fundraisers,
including Bid It To Win It!, LEBC was able to fund two grant cycles and
scholarships totaling more than $70,000! LEBC has provided more than $500,000
in grants to Lakes HS to date to support all Lakes HS students & staff.

Students, teachers, and guardians across Illinois are encouraged to participate in the eleventh annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of our school. Administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago, the survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes:
· Effective Leaders
· Collaborative Teachers
· Involved Families
· Supportive Environments
· Ambitious Instruction
Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to the respondent or student.
PARENT/GUARDIAN:
Between now and March 15, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate parent survey to begin.
· All surveys are totally anonymous
· You may skip any questions you do not wish to answer
· “Submit Survey” must be clicked once the survey is complete
· Surveys cannot be retrieved once submitted

STUDENT SURVEY:
All students will take the 5Essentials survey in their 2nd hour class on March 5th with this bell schedule.
Please be aware that under the Protection of Pupil Rights Act. 20 U.S.C. Section 1232(c) (1) (A), you have the right to review a copy of the questions asked of your student(s). Survey questions can be found at the UChicago Impact Support Center.
If you do not want your student to participate in the survey, fill out this form by February 26, 2024.

Late Bus Time Change
Starting February 5, 2024, the Lakes late bus will be supporting the SAT prep classes by now leaving at 4:40 pm. The class lets out at 4:30pm, and will allow the students ten minutes to get on the bus and go home.

International Women's Day - Seeking Guest Speakers
The Lakes Women and Leadership Club along with Lakes Female Track & Field Coach Christine Zucker and Science Teacher Irina Stan are putting on several events/activities at Lakes to highlight the success of women and to empower our female students during the month of March.
We are looking for female guests to participate in a forum and round tables on women in different fields of work during lunch hours on International Women's Day March 8th, 2024. Lunch hours run from 10:45am to 1:25pm.

Honor Roll
Congratulations to our Honor Roll and High Honor Roll students!
Two honor rolls are published for each semester: High Honor Roll and Honor Roll. The High Honor Roll requires a minimum semester grade point average of 4.0 in academic subjects with no grade lower than “C.” The Honor Roll requires a minimum semester grade point average of 3.6, with no grade lower than “C.” Only full time students are eligible for honor roll status.

Last week we celebrated National Women and Girls in sports. We're happy to say that our Lakes Girls Athletes are doing great things and had an impressive week.
Congratulations to our Girls Bowling State Qualifier
- Peyton Mezo took 3rd place at the IHSA Sectional and will head to IHSA State this weekend 2/16-2/17 in Rockford.
Congratulations to our Girls Wrestling punching their ticket to the IHSA State Meet 2/23-2/24 in Bloomington.
- Ava Babbs earned Sectional Champion and current record is 32-0
- Olivia Heft earned Sectional Champion and current record is 34-2

Class of 2024 College Transcript Information
Official transcripts are now available for the class of 2024. Seniors can request their transcripts by clicking the following link. A District 117 email is required to complete the form. This form and all other resources needed for completing college applications can be found in the "Classwork" section of the Class of 2024 College and Career Center Google Classroom.
Career Connect
Career Connect visits are a great opportunity for students to learn about non-college post-secondary options. Employers of all sorts will be visiting Lakes to discuss their workforce opportunities. Local Needs Assessment
The D117 CTE department chairs are currently collecting data for an updated Local Needs Assessment and are looking for input from our local community partners/business personnel in Lake Villa, Lindenhurst, and Antioch. Districts in Lake County need to collect this data, prior to our February 28 meeting. The information gathered is used to "guide the development of new and enhanced opportunities for Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that will benefit employers in Lake County."

The Lakes Eagles Booster Club is a not-for-profit parent volunteer group that raises funds in order to enhance academic, extracurricular and staff experiences at Lakes. We support all Lakes students and staff, and have provided more than $500,000 in grants to Lakes to date.
We need you to join the Boosters and continue all the great work we have done funding so many grants for the students and staff. Many of our current Directors’ kids are graduating in the next two years, please consider giving your time to become a Director and review the information on our LEBC website or come to a meeting to learn more. We meet the second Wednesday of every month (except July) at 7:00 pm in the upper ILC at Lakes.
