The Great Kindness Challenge
Dear Lake Families,
Our school is proudly participating in The Great Kindness Challenge, a week-long program dedicated to creating a culture of kindness and compassion in communities worldwide. To help our students practice kindness and put their compassion into action, they will receive a Great Kindness Challenge checklist. We will encourage all students to complete as many acts of kindness as possible at school and hope they feel inspired to continue them at home! Together, we will lift each other up, cheer each other on and show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS!
Follow this link for information on how your family can participate in the Great Kindness Challenge! Lake PTA is helping to “SPREAD” kindness with a peanut butter and jelly drive that we will donate to local families. If you would like to donate, please have your child drop off peanut butter or jelly in PLASTIC CONTAINERS ONLY in the containers at the main gate during Kindness Week.
For Thursday, Class colors are TK/K-red, 1st-orange, 2nd-yellow, 3rd-green, 4th-blue, 5th-purple
These are the Checklists the students will be working on, and they will keep these at school:

Open Committee Positions!
Do you love our community and family PTA events? Trunk-or-Treat, ROCK-a-thon, and our Back to School Party could not have happened without our amazing volunteers! We are looking for help with some of our upcoming family events like Family Game Night, Read Week, Book Fair, and our Family Dance! Committee members help plan the event, book entertainment, prep decorations, and work during the event. You can help as much or as little as works for you, and we always make sure that every volunteer has time to spend with their family during the event. Please email us at lakedolphins@gmail.com and tell us which area interests you, or fill out the Volunteer Database below and specify which event you would like to be a part of.
Volunteer Interest List:
If you would like to find out more about what volunteering with the PTA is like, please consider joining our interest list. We will reach out when there is an event or project that the PTA or school needs help with. We don’t expect you to help every time, but you will be kept in the loop if you sign up below.

Parking Challenges at Lake Park
Please ensure you are not parking in the fire lane and spaces that are NOT parking spots, specifically at Lake Park. It makes it very difficult for the pull through cars and for the people who have legally parked to safely walk to the sidewalk.
Keeping Lake Safe
If you have questions, comments, concerns or an interest in joining the conversation about campus safety, please reach out to our Lake Safety Committee at KeepLakeSafe@gmail.com.
Curious about the Aeries Parent Portal?
We made a short video to explain what the Aeries Parent Portal can do, and we encourage all of you to check it out. It provides attendance information, grades and emergency contact information as well. Please watch it and learn!
Visitors and Volunteers on Campus
We are excited to announce we have a new Visitors/Volunteers scanning system called Raptor. Raptor will check both Megan Law’s and other Federal Agency for every person that enters campus, each time they scan in.
Please be sure to bring your driver’s license to the office with you to scan into the Raptor system.
If you volunteer more than 20 hours a week and were given a badge, unfortunately the old badges will not work with the new system. Please be sure to bring your I.D. when you come to the office to scan in and we can make a new badge for you.
Late Drop Off/Early Release Information
If your student is coming to school late from an appointment or leaving early from school, please provide a doctor's note to excuse the tardy/early release. Please have a government ID when picking your student up early. Students can only be released to biological parent or legal guardian, per CA Ed code. If parents need to make other arrangements, please call the office and notify the office staff the name of the person picking your student up and the individual needs to be listed on the Parent Portal.
Lake Logistics
- CAR RIDER LINE: Families picking up and dropping off, PLEASE help our line move efficiently by NOT getting out of your vehicles while still in the car line. Please train your children to buckle or train them to sit safely while you find a safe place to pull over and make the needed adjustments for the ride home. THANK YOU!
- At dismissal, please utilize both lanes for pickup and be prepared with your child's name, grade and teacher.
Lake Student and Parent Handbook
The purpose of our Student and Parent Handbook is to assist our students and families with important information regarding school policies, procedures, and agreements we have set us up for us to have an enjoyable, successful, and safe school year.
Click on the link above to review the handbook. It is expected that each family reads through our Family Handbook. We appreciate your support and involvement as we work in partnership to provide a nurturing, inspiring, and rigorous educational program for each of our Dolphins.
School Meals
This year, breakfast and lunch we will be free and offered for all Lake students. Students will be able to have breakfast before school starting at 7:40. Breakfast will be served in the covered patio and students will stay there while eating. Supervision will be provided as breakfast is a student-only time and parents will not be allowed in the breakfast area. Lunch will be provided for all students during the school day.
Here's the menu from our WaveCrest Cafe!
A change for the 22-23 school year is there is no more Second Chance Breakfast available during recess. If your child wants breakfast it is available starting at 7:40.
COVID-19 Protocols
Masking in schools is optional for students, staff, and families. According to the very latest CDPH guidance for schools, indoor masking in K-12 school settings continues to be a strong recommendation, but not required. If you or your child is displaying symptoms or tests positive, please stay home and notify Lake immediately.
Please keep Lake safe and before the first day - come by the office and pick up a free test.
Any positive test results should be reported to Lake. And, if your student is experiencing any COVID-like symptoms, we ask that you keep them home. The most common COVID-19 symptoms include fever, cough, congestion, sore throat, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Each COVID-19 at-home test kit comes with two testing cartridges. Families are asked to use the second at-home antigen test on Sunday, August 21st to ensure that students who may have been exposed to someone during the first days of school remain home. Again, we ask that all positive COVID-19 results be reported to your school.
