About the Country
The first immigrant from Czech came in early 1852. The Czech immigrated to Texas for many reasons, such as overpopulation, failure of 1848, high taxes, to escape war, WW11, and political problems. The Czech settled in New Ulm, Nelsonville, and Austin County. They settled 1851-1920. Significant people to the Czech immigration were Antonin Dvorak, Leos Janacek, Josef B., and Anthony Dignowity.
Food
Goulash
Made with elbow macaroni, cubed steak, ground beef , and tomatoes in some form. This dish is very popular all over the world.
Czech Soup
The most popular Czech soups are onion and garlic soup. The specialty for Christmas is the fish soup, made out of Carp. Also very tasty is Goulash Soup, a spicy thick soup, served with brown bread. The one in the picture is onion soup.
Dumplings
They are made with flour, milk, eggs and stale bread cubes. a lot of the Czech's meals have these dumplings one the side. They usually have it with soup.

Štedrý deň, which means "Generous Day", when they give out the gifts in the evening.
