VSCA Spring Fling Workshop (Reg 8)
Longwood University - Farmville, VA
Suicide Awareness and Prevention
Come join us for an afternoon that will leave you feeling confident and informed to tackle one of the most difficulty subjects that we, as school counselors, face today.
Mrs. Shirley Ramsey, School Counselor and founder of the Virginia chapter for AFSP (the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) will inform and engage us with current national and state statistics to share with your stakeholders. She will also discuss ways that depression and anxiety can manifest, specifically in children and teens, and how to recognize signs of contemplated suicide. She will also give tips that you can share with students on how to seek help and the positive outcomes of doing so.
