Salmon's Week 20 Update
February 5th - 9th
Overview
Writing: We are working on informational writing. Our first few lessons focus on selecting topics and narrowing down the topic to a "just right" idea.
Example: Animals - Panda Bears - What pandas eat. The just right topic is Panda Bears, not too broad not too narrow.
Science: Our unit on energy is wrapping up and we will be moving on to rocks. If anyone is a rock expert please let me know. I could use some support with this topic. Just to let you know the first week of March all 4th graders will be participating in the state-wide CRT science assessment. I will let you know the specifics of dates as we get closer.
Social Studies: We will be wrapping up the Northeast and heading off to the Mid-West.
Valentine's Day
This is a time that you may include "treats" or food items with this Valentine's Day cards, but it is not required.
Bohart Field Trip - Friday February 15th.
We will leave the school immediately after the bell rings, so please make sure your child arrives on time. Students can come to the classroom as early as 8:10. I recommend that students bring the following:
- lightweight backpack that won't slip off the shoulders easily
- snack
- sack lunch (Students will be extra hungry!)
- water bottle
- appropriate clothing (warm coat, hat, snow pants, gloves, warm socks)
- face mask or covering (The wind sometimes picks up and can be super cold.)
