He was at war with France most of the time he was king and while he was king he lost most of his possessions. He died after eating a lot of peaches and ale. He was a very violent person and tried to kill his dad.

Importance
King John may have been very cruel to his subjects, but his subjects kind of took control after they couldn t handle it anymore. They were trying to force him to sign the Magna Carta so that he had to follow rules just like them. He had to make the deision between signing the Magna Carta or getting killed. He decided on signing it so that he had to follow some of the rules from the kings that were previous of him.

He was part of the Norman invasion and the Normans did not show up when they were supposed to to fight. Harold sent his army home. Then they did show up, but the English still won. They got tired, though, so they took on the town of Hastings. Harold then died soon after so William was able to take the English crown on Christmas day. -Quote; "Two forces are fighting-the one to save us and the other to hurt us." -Interesting Facts; he was Norman, his exact date of birth is unknown, his parents were not married, he died from a horse riding accident
William the Conqueror died when his horse violoently threw him from his back.

Importance
William the Conqueror was known as a great leader. He tried to protect the throne and stay away from challenges from any others. It took him a very long time to gain acceptance from other people around him because his parents were not married, but he eventually did it. he also convinceed nobles that he was their legitimate heir.
