Getting Your Library on Twitter!

Twitter 101

Twitter is a social-networking & microblogging service that allows users to send short (140 characters or less) messages.



For educators Twitter is a Professional Learning Network open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Getting Started:

Create an Account


  1. Go to the sign-up page on Twitter and create an account.
  2. You will need to provide your library name, your library's gmail address, and create a password.
  3. Username: BuckhornHighLib, SMSLibrDutton, WGSLibrary, S9GSLibrary, MCMediaCenter
  4. Confirm your Twitter account via the email address you provided.


NOTE: Usernames can be changed later.



Edit your Profile (Don't Stay an Egg Head)


  1. When logged into your account, click the gear symbol in the upper right corner.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Profile on the left menu of items.
  4. Update your photo and/or header image.
  5. Update your name, location, and bio.
  6. Click the Save changes button.

NOTE: The bio & picture are public. This is how people will decide whether or not to follow you.
