We are excited to see everyone tomorrow! Please follow these instructions for the safety of our community:
Complete your own at-home health screening before coming to the school.
Plan to wear a mask and sanitize hands before entering the school
Follow the schedule so everyone can have the opportunity to park, take a turn in the building, and keep physically distanced:

1:30-2:00 - last name H-P

Each team has prepared a welcome video for you -- click here to see them. Teachers will only be available at the times above. They will be using the time not scheduled to prepare for the first day with your children.
As a reminder, the goal of Open House Express is a 15 minute “sneak peek” into the school. Here’s a video description: https://youtu.be/wtqSTqVCd-U
Working together we will have an enjoyable experience.

School Year Safety/Mitigation Strategies
Please see these with details of the COVID-19 Mitigation Strategies (English) & Estrategias de Mitigación COVID-19 (espanol). There is a division presentation about these protocols tonight on Zoom. at 6:30pm.
Many procedures are similar to those used last year. You can help us keep our school community healthy by:
Screening at-home before school and keeping your child home if he/she is sick
Everyone wears masks inside the school or busses
We will maximize physical distancing to the extent possible
We will all wash/sanitize hands throughout the day
Students will all eat in their classrooms or outside, taking turns wearing masks for 6 foot distance
We will take students outside as often as possible
Last year our school received excellent reports on our mitigation measures, and we will continue to do all we can to keep us healthy this year.
For Mountain View families that want to ask questions about how we are planning to implement mitigation strategies at Mountain View, please joins us on Zoom tomorrow night at 6:00pm on Zoom:

Arrival/Drop Off For The New Year
The school building opens to students at 7:40 a.m. and the school assumes responsibility for the supervision of students at this time. Students should be dropped off between 7:40 and 7:55 a.m. Once school begins, we will care for and guide your child from the moment they exit your car (or get on the school bus).
Students are considered “tardy” after 8:00pm; at this point families should park, walk their child into the building, and check them in at the front office.
Dismissal begins at 2:20 p.m and buses will depart at approximately 2:40 p.m. Changes in dismissal plans need to be communicated to the main office before 1:00 PM to ensure we have enough time to rearrange your child’s change in plans.
Note for car riders -- the first few days could take 30-40 minutes for arrival/departure because we go “slow and safe” for your children. Please be patient -- the process goes faster in about a week.
Note for walkers -- the heat and rain has delayed completion of the crosswalk. Please follow staff instructions when crossing the school/bus lot and continue to be careful when crossing Avon Street. We encourage you to wait for staff to hold traffic for you at the time buses depart.
You will find more details on page 13-14 of our Family/Student Handbook
A Note about Essentials (Art, Music, Library, Physical Education) and School Counselors
We are thrilled that students will again have Essentials on a weekly basis on a Monday- Friday schedule. Your child’s schedule will be shared by their teacher next week.
Art (with Ms. Canine and Mr. Westen) and Music (with Ms. Guevarra and Ms. Wyant) will be “on carts” which means these teachers will be meeting with students in their homeroom classrooms.
Library(with Ms. Roberts) will also be on a cart while the library is used as a classroom. This means that checkout of books is temporarily on hold.
Physical Education (with Mr. Ivory, Mr. Stauffer, and Ms. Zeanah) will be in the gym, and outside whenever possible.
School Counselors (Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Turner) will meet with every classroom on a rotating schedule.
This is short-term until the learning pod is ready for our fifth graders to move in -- currently scheduled for late October.
Snack Donations Accepted
We will happily accept pre-packaged snack donations for children who are unable to provide their own. You can either donate them to your child’s teacher or leave them in the front office for us to distribute upon request. Thank you!
