Francisco Pizarro sailed for Peru. King Charles the 5th financed his voyages.

In Lima, on 26 June 1541 Diego de Almagro and his men stormed Pizarro's palace. Almagro and his team Assassinated Pizarro. Then Almagro was then the new leader.

What made Francisco Pizarro historically significant was because he conquered the Incan Empire. He traveled to Peru to conqueror the city of Cajamarca and took the Inca leader Atahuapla hostage. Pizarro then conquered Cuzco that's part of the Incan Empire. Then created the city Lima which is now the capital of Peru.
