TEAM UPDATES
Congratulations to both Roz and Christina
Christina
As from Monday 14th December 2015, Christina will be our Events Coordinator. Christina has been here from the very start and its great to see her move into this role.
I am sure she will update you on what her role entails but for now, please ensure you direct anyone who has a booking enquiry to bookings@cafe1809.co.uk
A reminder that there are processes in place for booking of events, but just in case you are not sure anyone asking for a general table booking in the café, please check that there are no bookings in the events diary first.
Roz
Has passed her level 3 Food and Hygiene certificate and has now been promoted to senior chef.
Roz will take on even more responsibilities as well as having the authority to pick everyone up on food related EHO issues etc. This also means Roz will now become part of the senior team.
Well done both of you!
We are always looking to see individuals excel and whilst people sometimes come and go, those that stick it out and voice their commitments in an appropriate way and work with us to find solutions to perceived problems, will be given the opportunity to move up within the business.

FINANCE FROM JENNIE - DONT MESS!!!
BOOKING HOLIDAY
Please note, just because a holiday is given in or ‘put somewhere’, does not mean that holiday form is authorised. A new wall planner will be in the staff room, please check it first. At the moment you must give 14 days notice of holiday, the forms must be given to James or Jennie directly and it must be signed off by Jennie or it is not authorized holiday.
BREAKAGES POLICY
Recently we have had to order lots of crockery/dishes/bowls. Some has been because we are busy, but an awful lot has been broken. I don’t want to accuse people of not caring, but this has cost hundreds of pounds since we started. From (date), anything broken must be logged and signed by the person who caused it to be broken. If too many breakages keep happening, we will have to implement a breakages policy to recoup the café’s money.
COMPLAINTS & REFUND POLICY
Going forward, we no longer automatically offer refunds when customers complain. We have to manage the complaints better, and not just accept it. We need to think that this is awful, not just for them but for us and we share their pain for feelings of disappointment because that is not who we are. We need to ensure we correct the experience the customer is having, either in that moment or with a promise of asking them back to show them what level of experience they can get here. This does not affect retail statutory rights.
NEW STAFF HANDBOOK AND POLICIES
By the end of January, we will be going through our new staff handbook and the revised policies.
