The Buzz at Westbrook School

From the Principal...

April 14, 2022

Dear Westbrook Families,

I hope you enjoy a nice long weekend ahead. Please remember District 57 students do not have school this Friday, April 15th and Monday, April 18th. We will look forward to having students back in the building on Tuesday, April 19th.

Next week, we will start our spring benchmark assessments for kindergarteners and first graders. Students will be working one-on-one with their teacher or a member of the benchmarking team to assess skills in reading and math. Grade-level teams use assessment data to ensure core instruction meets the needs of our students. We identify students needing additional support through interventions, and we review progress towards grade-level academic goals in reading and math. The results of these assessments are for internal problem-solving. However, we will notify families if their child qualifies for a math or reading intervention.

Many Westbrook students have received a glow-in-the-dark kindness bracelet from the PTO for completing their kindness sheet. We will celebrate Kindness Spirit Week from April 25th-29th. Please see this flyer for the list of spirit week attire.

The Westbrook PTO is excited to offer Kona Ice to all Westbrook students on Friday, May 20th. Please complete this Kona Ice Permission Form to indicate if your child can participate. Nutritional information and ingredients can be found at this link.

For your children,

Danielle Crandall

Note from the Nurse: COVID-19 Vaccination Card Information

Dear Parents,

District 57 offers families the opportunity to voluntarily provide their child’s COVID-19 vaccination status. We are asking parents to send a copy of their child's Covid vaccination card to the health office after their child receives their second dose. This is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Julie Tworek, RN
