LCS Board of Education Officially Calls for Bond Election
After a year of community engagement, the District will go forward with a $94.9 million bond proposal this November. The Board of Education officially “called the election” at its August 7 regular meeting.
If approved by voters, the bond proposal will finance the proposed restructuring plan and the improvement of facilities across the District, including the construction of a new high school at the West Campus. Over 600 residents were involved in shaping the bond proposal. That’s why the District is calling it The People’s Proposal.
The election is Tuesday, November 5. Absentee ballots will be made available by September 21.
All bond-related information and materials are easily accessible at LapeerSchools.org by clicking on the bond graphic on the main page.

Free/Reduced Lunch Applications Should be Completed by All Families
I’m writing to let you know how important it is to fill out the school meal application form by downloading it below and returning it to school if you haven't already done so. I am encouraging all of our families to complete the form.
Some parents are concerned about listing income amounts and social security numbers on the application. Any personal information you provide will not be shared:
- Free and reduced price meal applications are confidential. Your information will only be used to determine your child’s eligibility for the school meal programs. We cannot share your information without your written permission.
- Students who receive free and reduced price meals are not identified. No other students, staff, or teachers need to know who is receiving free or reduced meals and who has paid. All children that choose to receive a meal at school go through the lunch line the exact same way.
There is one very important reason to fill out this form: The more families that file applications with our district, the greater the possibilities of increasing our funding, which equates to greater educational services to you and your children.
Please take a few minutes to fill out this form to help us determine whether your child may qualify for these important benefits.
Free/Reduced Lunch Applications

**Please note: Your application for the 2019-2020 school year must be dated July 1, 2019 or after. Your student’s lunch benefit from the 2018-19 school year will carry over for the first 30 attendance days of the 2019-20 school year. After 10-09-2019, the benefit will reset. IF we have not received and approved a new Free/Reduced application for your household, your child(ren) will be charged the full price for meals eaten after the above mentioned date. **

It should be developed and reviewed each year jointly with parents/families to establish meaningful parent and family engagement with schools. This plan includes things like surveys, newsletters, and family engagement activities. It is distributed to families in the Fall of each school year.
