Putting a Mission into Motion
I have spent a great deal of time writing about our mission statement this semester. Again our mission is three-fold:
- Serve our diverse community
- Develop independent thinkers
- Excel in an ever-changing world
With this mission, some phrases centered my thoughts throughout the semester.
When thinking about serving our diverse community, remember that you cannot push past trust. Trust is vital as we support the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students. We must build trust with our students to push them to be their best.
To develop independent thinkers, we must work at the edge. We must push to the end of our ability and create new skills at this edge. This effort will create mistakes, but it will also create a profound impact on learning and thinking.
Finally, the one that has hit us hardest recently is to excel in an ever-changing world. About ten weeks ago, we began this journey, and school is set to start again about ten weeks from now. We never expected to be where we are right now, and the future is unknown. Regardless, to excel in this ever-changing world, we must maximize who you are. Excelling in an ever-changing world requires disciplined behavior. Being disciplined in our actions helps us to get our best out of our work.
We must give our best and be at our best every day to put this mission into motion. Thank you for another great semester. I hope to see everyone back at school soon!
