the history behind May Gaskin
Ina May Gaskin was born on March 8, 1940. Ina's parents both had college degrees and believed it was important to have a higher education. Gaskin's grand-parents both ran an orphanage in Missouri, in a small town in the Ozarks. May married a man named Steven, and they founded a farm in Summer town Tennessee, in 1971. There she became one of the greatest midwife, while developing a farm midwifery centre.
what she did
May Gaskin is a midwife that has had good outcomes from what she does. Through the span of her life she has delivered more than 1200 births. Gaskin has written more than five books which have changed the life of how people look at homebirths and has encouraged more mothers to not be afraid.
what makes her famous
The fact that Ina has delivered more than 1200 births is amazing but what makes her even more special? she has lectured all over the world to midwifery conferences and medical schools. May thought of a effective method with dealing with one of the most feared birthing complications, shoulder dystocia. Her method is growing and is becoming more popular. Her books have inspired people, and her passion for what she does is unbelievable. she also inspires me to pursue my dream and become a midwife in BC.
